Comment:
Would not recommend taking this class with him. Teaches everything in the class and the theory he teaches is extremely confusing and poorly taught. Leaves you screwed for problem sets asks way too much of students for things he's only taught once.

Comment:
It's true he's challenging, especially on tests, which demand theoretical proficiency rather than number crunching. But he's endlessly patient and helpful. I don't think he's ever gone on tangents, except when prompted directly to by student questions or for the sake of clarity. Take his class if you want to learn the econ, not for an A.

Would not recommend taking Econ 255 with him. Talks too fast but also wastes time by rewording the same concepts. Helpful during office hours. Doesn't take attendance but says he doesn't teach out of the book so you might miss something if you skip. Only need to use the book once for homework = a waste of money.

Comment:
Talks way too fast but tries to make it up by being repetitive, but words his notes differently during each repetition. Also has unique notation that he forgets to explain. The combo makes it extremely hard for diligent note-takers to grasp what he's saying on the spot. He makes econ harder than it is. However, if you are confused, go to office hou

If you're weak quantitatively, you will not succeed in econ. Ta doesn't muddle about in useless description, but gives concrete analysis. Keeps class relevant and interesting, also a very personable prof who's always willing to talk to you - best professor @bowdoin by far. With minimal independent thinking ability, you will learn a lot and get an A

One of the best professors I've had a Bowdoin. Maybe not the easiest, but a great interesting, keeps the class involved. Basically made me decide to pick up an econ minor based on his classes (101 and 228)

Decides to teach the class using integration methods, assuming everyone has a working knowledge of Integral calculus. Ta teaches in an extremely fast manner, covering a considerable portion of the textbook without fully explaining concepts. Week quantitatively? DO NOT TAKE 255 W/ HERRERA
