Took him twice, failed both. Both failures are both my fault, I suppose. The first certainly is, so he didn't scare me when I decided to take him again. Had a four-week emergency, and my grade tanked. Did okay outside of that period though. Could've passed without it, but the professor is strict with the grade and is not lenient. Should of had a d-

even with prior knowledge of math from high school this class was very tough. he considered it cheating if we were taught a different way prior to class or watch yt vids to understand topics. He expects us to learn strictly from him. Discussion does not help, waste of time tbh. A lot of homework. 2 midterms 1 final 8ish quizzes & 4 group wrksheet

Honestly, the class started off not too bad. As usual, this is a Calculus class so it obviously does require a lot of work and effort. However, seeking help in this class is tough. His lectures are very quick and you have to stay on top if. Discussions do not help. Consist of just quizzes and worksheets. Your only help is yourself or office hours.

worse professor I have taken at UCR so far. I don't know why I'm calling him a professor, he's only a lecturer. He is so unforgiving with assignments and exams. I had a huge issues and said I couldn't make it up. Had technical issues during exam, and he replied he wasn't IT support. So much homework. So many students would say the same.

I understand the mixed review about Curtis but don't expect an even okay ride, in fact it'll probably be a harder math class just due to him as a professor. The subject isn't bad but Curtis just expects way more from his students than most students could offer. He's fine with students just passing and doesn't understand the vigor of his tests.

this class was pretty difficult, the hardest i have taken this school year. extremely fast paced. have to buy an $80-90 textbook that we dont use in class but will be helpful for tests. my ta was unhelpful, he didnt respond to my emails about me being unable to submit a quiz because of technology issues. wouldnt take this class with curtis again

This class was alright. I only took algebra 2 in high school and found that some of the concepts taught were similar to algebra 2 even if this class is a "precal" class, so you should be fine. Just do the study guides and practice problems and you should be good for quizzes and tests.

Like the rest of the reviews under here, Curtis's class can be tough at times but overall, he is a great lecturer. His class is quiz and test heavy but he posts study guides at least a week in advance and posts similar problems on quizzes. Homework can be a lot sometimes and time consuming so plan ahead.

I went to office hours, paid attention, asked questions, did every study guide, Im good at math, put most of my time into this class, and I still struggled. Hes a little generous, but gives no courtesy towards those who are struggling. There is actually another prof who taught this class, and he recieved great reviews. Curtis is the problem.

This class was definitely tough, but Curtis is a really good professor. Lectures are clear and he's very generous in terms of grading. You're definitely going to have to put in A LOT of effort to get a good grade but if you work hard, you will be fine. He has a lot of office hours and if you ever need help with problems, GO!

I don't believe Curtis was a bad teacher as he provided study guides and even told us the type of problems in the exams. I can't think of any more he could have done to help us. The class is challenging because of the heavy algebra coursework and not because the professor makes it out to be. Algebra has a lot to it so work hard!

Buckle your seatbelts folks, although this is an intro college math class (precalc), and as someone who is good at math, its one of the hardest classes Ive taken. Professor believes grades/catching cheaters > mental health. 2 midterms, a final, hw, online and discussion quizzes. USE THE TEXTBOOK!!! It will help you get at least a C on exams.

hands down the worst professor i've ever had during the pandemic and also the worst class i've taken so far in my college career. he is not flexible or understanding at all (a prof. that does not care about his students). Rounds down grade if you ask to round up and examples on lectures do not match problems on exam. Basically would not recommend.

by far the most frustrating class ive taken. there is no flexibility regarding anything, which, during a pandemic, seems a bit cold. midterms dont reflect the hw (LOTS of hw that has no bearing on ur grade either). get ready to be accused for cheating bc you coughed weirdly and be prepared for the most hardass class of ur life.

The absolute worst professor to have during a pandemic; he is not flexible at all. I understand why I got the grade I received, but he made this class extremely difficult for no reason. I felt as if his midterms were much harder than anything he had taught us.

This guy made math004 way harder than it needed to be. I honestly did my best and even had a bit of experience from precalc in HS. His tests were stupendously hard and many students were constantly on the verge of failing or praying for just a C. I will say he has decent lectures but cares way too much on keeping a specific test average.

He's honestly a really good teacher and you just need to put in the work. I didn't take calc in highschool but still got a good grade because I studied A LOT. He gives sections on what to expect for midterms/finals which was helpful. The class is hard and fast paced not his fault. Don't expect an easy A

Makes you work for your grade. If you put the hours in, you will succeed in this class. Need to be sure to get main concepts in order to get harder concepts. Lectures may be quick, but with an SI and TA available, there is help available.

I genuinely thought this class was taught in a great way. Many people complained about him and the way he taught, but most of them did not pay attention to what he would say and get mad at him later for it. He doesnt post study guides before midterms or the final, but gives you topics to know and practice problems for previous chapter quizzes.

I guess he was pretty ok, he made us laugh a couple of times but the dude is not flexible with the pandemic at all. I understand that the class is gonna be fast-paced cause of the quarter system but the amount of workload is too much. If you fall behind you'll probably miss a lot.
