He is really helpful if you have questions just show up to his office hours. As long as you pay attention in class, there's no way you won't get a good grade.

First of all, He's a good academic advisor, he always replies to students ASAP. I don't know if he still teaches this class, but this class was alright. However, the final exam was super hard.

Amazing in every possible way. Interesting lectures, and will go into detail to answer anything anyone asks in class. The work was interesting, fun to do, and not hard. Often gives extensions if asked and even gave extra credit this semester. There's a final essay but it's totally avoidable if you maintain a high A throughout the class.

Really helpful guy. Grades easy and teaches super good. He makes sure you get the concept and really accessible outside class (in person and on email). Replies to emails almost immediately and helps a lot in office hours. Tests are not too hard (not extremely easy either), but he makes sure you do well. The exams are closed note

Bauer does really well at conveying exactly how concepts work, and I actually learned a lot from the lectures and didn't often get bored. He does call on random people to answer questions during class, but doesn't make you feel bad if you get them wrong as long as you try. Homework is light and exams are really easy if you understand the concepts.

The professors both know that an ITP for CS is a joke so this class is out of your way. Most labs require minimal effort unless you have absolutely no coding experience, in which case this class will be useful but hard. Theres always a lecture survey at the end for a grade with the password written on the board, so you have to show up in person.

I took Bauer because he was my advisor. However, I realized that Bauer has the hardest labs of all the CS 115 classes due to high expectations. Though he does teach, he is really fast paced. He expects you to work with a lab partner, so be ready to pick a reliable person. Pace yourself during the exams because there is a lot of content to cover.

The final exam was so difficult. I think you should be aware of Algorithms, Data structures and have good problem-solving skills to get a good grade in this class. Memorizing class materials doesn't help for exams. Understand all of the materials and the problem-solving skills are the most important thing to do well in this class.

Best computer science professor ever, hands down. He is thorough and puts 110% into his classes. He does assign a lot of work and makes you watch pre-lecture videos, but I learned more than anyone who had the other professors. 10/10 should take.

This was the hardest class I have taken at IIT. I think its because he makes it hard. Don't take him. I actually thought he was great by seeing that he has a 4.0 on here but boy I was wrong! He gives out F's guys.. avoid, avoid, avoid. Good thing I only needed CS 104 and I wont have to take him again. AVOID.

Avoid HIM! Prof Matthew Bauer has no heart when it comes to the students. He is not I repeat not the best teacher I have had thus far. His tests are nothing compared to the practice tests he gives us. Tests are very, very tough. Computer Science does not have any great professors. Try to take this class at a city college especially if you are engin

Excited about CS, but it is way too much for first thing in the morning (104 is always at 8:30). Knowledgeable about Matlab, but I have heard from CS majors that he is not the best for other programming languages, specifically Java. He is a tough grader and likes to randomly call on people, so pay attention. He will answer email in 5 minutes.

Good professor, interesting class material. If you put in the work and understand HW you will do fine, but it does take quite a bit of work. Very fast grader. My only real complaint is that he seems unprepared for class occasionally (having difficulty answering questions from the notes) but this is not very often.

Labs are generally short. You have to watch a video every week and do a short quiz on BlackBoard about what the video covered. Only exams are midterm and final. Put some time into the final project or you'll get screwed over; it's 10% of your final grade, I think.

This guy is a robot. Has no heart and will not give any help once you start failing. He literally walked out of his lecture because people didn't want to answer his questions (keep in mind this is early in the morning)! If you can try to take CS105 or if you're a CS major try to avoid this guy.

He's a really accesible guy, you can write him an email with a question and you can expect a response within the hour. Although sometimes I felt like he didn't care. As for his class, he explained really good the material and gives examples during class and send the codes used.
