This class was extremely hard!!!! He goes super fast as well! He is a great professor and cares about how you do and is very knowledgeable but as a teacher it may be very difficult to pass if you cannot keep up. You also need to study the book outside of class.

He grades based off of just 3 tests and a Final and has no sort of drop or replace set up so if you do bad on one test you will not be able to make it up. He is also very dull in class and its difficult to pay attention. His tests are almost identical to the study guides on his website but he gives out little partial credit

Great teacher with an insane amount of knowledge of mathematics. One of the nicest and most courteous professors I have ever met. His handwriting is hard to read sometimes but If you want to truly understand the concepts he is a great professor.

Lugo is a really caring and intelligent professor, but he has a few quirks. He handwrites his notes under the projector and it's always in hard-to-read cursive. He grades tough but fair. If you show effort & have good attendance he will bump you up several points at the end. The course material is extremely difficult but he teaches it thoroughly.

This was the hardest class I've ever taken. However, I seemed to enjoy going to Dr. Lugo's lectures. He makes the subject interesting and a bit easier to understand with little stories every once in a while. I would recommend doing the majority of the homework problems because there are many different ways problems on exams can be presented.

Dr. Lugo is a really nice person but his lectures are awful. Grading is only based on tests and quizzes. Homework is not mandatory. His way differs from the book which makes it harder to see through this class. He does not do any homework problems. If you are good on your own, teaching yourself stuff, take him. Otherwise avoid.

Most animated and enthusiastic teacher I've had. Good teacher for hard class. Spent more time in this class than all others combined and it was my worst grade but if you want to thoroughly learn calculus take Lugo. Throws some curvballs that weren't on practice tests to ensure you studied hw. I typically, got those wrong(never did hw). Cool class

Honestly one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. The structure of his lectures is very different from the textbook but expects you to teach yourself based off of the hw in the book. When asked to put up an answer key for the last test he said he had other priorities. Quiz given once a week& takes the highest 5 scores and there's 4 tests.

If you really want to understand Calculus, this is the course to take. However, it's exceedingly difficult. There are quizzes twice a week and an exam every three weeks. He puts difficult and rare case problems on tests, so be prepared. He's stringent on syntax; however, my grasp of Calculus is much more refined thanks to him. He's a great teacher.

Dr. Lugo truly does care about his students, the class is very difficult to get an A. The lectures are quick and sometime a bit confusing, often made mistakes that students had to correct. I respected him a professor but wish class better prepared me for the tests.

Firstly, his way of grading is absurd. All of the homework is straight from the book, which he never goes over in class. If you struggle with math, DO NOT take him. Very fast-paced and he does not make the course interesting at all. No help whatsoever. Save yourself.

Dr. Lugo is one of my favorite professor I have had at UNCW so far. He is so caring for his students and really wants everyone in his class to succeed. Just put in the effort because calculus is not easy. Loved him and I recommend him to everyone

Lugo is a great teacher for a a hard subject. He does his best to make it understandable - when he gives you the chance to ask questions ask for more examples particularly that you were confused on - it REALLY helps. Plus he throws you points for being engaged.

Dr. Lugo is such an amazing professor. He truly cares about his students and when the class does not do well on exams he curves his tests very generously and makes sure everyone understands. Do not go into this class thinking it will be easy. Calculus is hard but I highly recomment Dr. Lugo. If you do the hw and go to class, you should be fine.

Lugo is honestly THE WORST math teacher I have ever had. He gives no extra credit and his lectures are pointless. His lectures are awful. Your exams will be only 10 questions. Quiz every week. He doesn't show you what material to know for the tests(because he doesn't teach it, and because you don't have homework on it). AWFUL CLASS & GPA KILLER!!!!

I have had a pretty bad math experience throughout my years and Dr. Lugo did not help that. I was hoping for a teacher that could help me understand algebra better and that did not happen. I learned more from the math lab online homework than I did in class. I would not recommend him to teach any algebra class.

This is probably one of the worst calculus teachers I ever had. He likes to waste 15 minutes at the beginning of class on words of wisdom that has no relevancy to the course. He doesn't teach you any of the concepts just shows you how to solve the problem. Good luck trying to make an A with this professor. I would avoid him at all costs!

Only real complain with this teacher is that he writes so small it gives me a headache. He says intelligent people write small, it shows they're paying more attention, well... vision impaired people don't write small because its hard to see! I can never read anything!!!!

Comment:
I'm a very good math student, and I was forced to drop out of Lugo's class due to getting consistent Ds. If you are okay with striving for a C, then Lugo is your man. If not, he's a horrible professor. Terrible at explanations, and only really beneficial if you're going into physics. DON'T TAKE HIM AT ALL COSTS.
