got hit by the pandemic pretty hard and he was very understanding about everything. as long as u keep him updated and email him if u have anything that's gonna be late, he'll be really accommodating about it. he's nice, just gotta talk to him. as for the class, u can tell he tries hard to keep it interesting.

Dr. Herman made this class easier than I expected. He explained everything clearly and made it interesting. There is a lot of homework and it is worth 30% of the final grade. Some parts of Calc 2 seem like torture but its not all like that.

Dr. Herman was a very knowledgeable professor who genuinely cares about his students. He knew all 100 some of us by name. His class is challenging, but he's a fair professor. Get ready to dive in from day 1.

The best math and physics professor at UNCW. MAT 367 (Princ. of Applied Math) was the most challenging course I took, granted, it was an 8 am lecture, but the homework will take up more than 50% of all your free time. I am serious. If you are already a physics or math major, this class might be less hard. In any case, Dr. Herman will guide you.

Dr. Herman is a great professor. I have learned more in all of his classes than most of my other math classes. He explains the concepts very thoroughly. His HW is very difficult, so make sure you ask questions in his office. Tests are also difficult. You have to put in more work than most to do well in his classes.

I took him for MAT 367 in the Spring 2016 semester. He's a great professor, explains things clearly, knows what he is talking about, and is overall a really nice person. But the material he teaches is VERY advanced so you'd better be ready to work hard if you're gonna take him.

He is probably the best professor I have had at UNCW. Super clear and organized, always there to help, always in a good mood as well. Doesn't call on you out of the blue which is nice. But, you have to work for it.

Dr. Herman is probably one of the best professors I've had at UNCW. The material was quite difficult, but Dr. Herman explains it very well. He is also very helpful outside of class if you go to office hours or ask questions over email. Only take this class if you're willing to work and learn a lot!

Herman was a great physics 101 teacher, I wish he was teaching 102 this semester. He is one of the most organized professors I've had He gave out graded homework for each section.he made you memorize all of the equations for the tests, but at the end of the year you knew your stuff. He is more than fair and is always available to help. TAKE HERMAN!

Vector Calculus is a more in-depth study of the topics covered in Calc 3, and Dr. Herman likes to weave in some physics to keep things interesting. There were two groups projects, and the tests were pretty challenging. There were also 10+ hours of homework each week. You'll have to work for an A, but you'll definitely learn a lot from Dr. Herman.

Dr. Herman is a great teacher. he explains the material very well and really wants his students to do well. However, as a non-physics major, it was not fun having to do about 10 hours of homework a week. This class took most of my time when I should have been worrying about other classes.

DO NOT go with Dr. Herman unless you need physics for grad school testing, or its your major. He covers much more content than other professors, requires you to memorize formulas, and assigns about 8-10 hours of homework a week. I have never spent as much time working on homework as in this class.

Dr. Herman is the best teacher in the PHY department to take to prepare for the MCAT. He's clear, concise, caring of how his students progress, and a very nice man. You can tell he really loves this stuff. That being said, it's not going to be easy. You will have to learn to memorize all the formulas for the comprehensive final, but hes worth it.

Physics is just plain hard but if you have to take it, take Herman. I got a C in 101 with Alexanian, then got an A in 102 with Herman. He is a great teacher! Explains everything very well. Required HW but they really help your grade. Go to lab, that boosts your grade too. The tests are fair, study the old tests online! (some of the same ?'s)

I had Herman for physics 201 and loved him. I took Applied Math because I really liked Herman, and because I am very interested in mathematics. It was the hardest class I have taken at UNCW. Be prepared to work hard, and you will learn a lot!

Herman is a very intelligent man. he makes an incredible professor. his tests are hard: you HAVE to memorize ALL of the equations (including the comprehensive final). that was the hardest part. he does offer a little extra credit. He is ALWAYS available for help, and truly enjoys and strives to help struggling students. onlind hw req'd

Awesome teacher. I took Phy 202 in the summer and I started out with a rather poor grade because the book was just AWFUL, but I did all the practice quizzes and I ended up with an A! Labs are kind of boring, but he goes over them very thoroughly beforehand. Definitely recommend him; he's one of the best teachers I've ever had! :D

Dr. Herman is a great teacher--even the other math professors at school will tell you he's the best. Multivariate calc is a difficult class, but he made stuff pretty accessible. Definitely go to class, talk to him, and, most importantly, DO THE HOMEWORK!! It can boost your grade a full letter if you turn it in on time. I'd recommend him 100%!

Difficult professor, but you really learn the material in his classes. Don't take a class with him unless you are prepared to work on his class every single night for at least 2 hours.
