Where to begin, he is the hardest professor I have ever had. I am a disappointment to him as he repeatedly stated in my assignments. Extra credit is first come first serve and you better get everything the way he wants it on all the assignments. The longer the response the better.

Get ready to work your tail off. During the first month I was looking for any reason to quit. I'm glad I didn't. I didn't know how far I could push myself until I took a class with him. I wouldn't trade it for anything though. You have a half-century of research and teaching getting ready to retire soon. If you can hack it, take his class.

I took this class because I need some upper level classes and I love history. Knowing that an online class was going to be harder for me, but I wasn't expecting it to be as hard as it was. I struggled throughout the semester and a couple times during the semester, he suggested I drop the class and did not offer extra help or anything like that.

Coming back to History after a decade away (and taking on Higher Ed as my new area of interest), I was terrified of this course at the beginning. The assignments weren't bad. Dr. Schick was helpful if you have questions and provided some of the most thorough feedback I have ever received. I feel confident to move forward after his guidance.

There is a ton of work to do in the class, and it can seem overwhelming especially if you don't have prior knowledge of the subject. But the Prof is helpful and offers lots of feedback, suggestions, and thought provoking questions. He's straight to the point, but appreciates hard work from his students.

Be prepared to work very hard. If he gives out opportunities for extra credit, he won't make it easy. Very knowledgeable and expects a lot from his students. Be sure to acquaint yourself with the subject before hand. He can be crass, but he gives you the sense that if you try hard and make progress, that he is proud of your accomplishments.

Very hard teacher, but extremely knowledgeable. Absolutely makes you work a lot, but very well worth it. He is incredibly smart and demanded excellence of his students. Overall best teacher I had in college.

Wow! A no BS prof. Absolutely knows his stuff and is very good at teaching. I suspect negative reviews are from students who don't want to put forth any effort(reading is so hard)and therefore shouldn't be in college. He forces you to think, rethink, then reconsider. The knowledge gained was considerable, the analytical skills learned... awesome.

Nice guy, but very hard teacher! I struggled along with all of my friends. He expected all of us to have a lot of background knowledge that there is no way we could have had.

Uses class time to grip about the school website instead on teaching. In American Revolution class we never got out of England because he grips about off topic things!
