Comment:
Prof. Bao has a very meticulously planned course. It was very straightforward with lectures, videos, and readings. I personally did not require any personal contact with the professor during this online, summer session class. But, I'd say that actually speaks to the good course planning and structure.

Professor Bao is a really good professor. I had to miss an exam due to medical issues and she was really understanding. Her material is pretty much whats on the exam without extras. Everyone with bad reviews are just lazy and want everything handed to them without effort. Read and you'll pass. It's that simple

This is by far the easiest online class I've ever taken in my life. At first there is a lot of reading, but the lectures are easy. I rented the books but haven't opened them once. This is a self paced course, and the only deadlines for completion are the exams and the extra credit. Exams are open for 2 days, & you have 80 mins for 100 questions.

Terrible instructor. Her school of Anthropology is outdated. English is not her native language and while she writes very well, her ability to communicate verbally is limited. This would not be a problem, except it does not allow her to answer objections or to properly defend her point of view. She excludes Darwinian evolution from her teaching!

This online class has been same, same modules, lectures. She hasn't changed anything for years. Honestly she doesn't teach anything. you will end up with teaching yourself. only 4 tests, but 100 questions each 80 minutes. She emails highest points of each tests, not sure why not average. run as far as you can not worth it seriously old strict lady

Online ANTH 428 has been one of the most demanding online classes I've ever taken. Videos, readings, lectures every week... you basically have to go through all of it in order to get an A. It's not difficult, and if I didn't have other demanding classes and two jobs, I could have passed with an A. Overall, interesting course.

Great class, she is a knowledgeable professor. Her accent makes it a little difficult to understand, but she is always willing to answer questions and she truly cares about you learning. There lots of reading, but I actually was looking forward to reading the material.

This professor seems to take pride in being critical and a tough grader. This manufactured tough stance appeared to be more self serving than good for students to learn from. I was a 4.0 student until taking this class. Not anymore... I will say every person should be exposed to the course subject matter just choose a different professor.

Dr. Bao has a fantastic mind and she translates it well into her lectures. They are thought provoking, but still interesting. I will be taking as many courses taught by her as I can in the future.

Very nice professor, would answer to my emails very quickly. Lectures demonstrate a great amount of info but contain examples to help clarify which I loved! Tests seemed to be a bit much, so much reading to do and never knowing what little thing could show up kind of stressful. READ everything as it could be on the test. 3 books plus 4 articles.

Jiemin is extremely helpful and really cares that her students learn and understand the content. You will learn a lot about yourself and about others from taking this course. This is the second class I've taken with Jiemin, and I highly recommend her. She is the sweetest lady I've ever met.

I found this class somewhat unfair. Buddhism is interesting to me and I'm not sorry I took the class. However, professor Bao's quizzes (online) are unfair. Answering 100 questions in 45 minutes is not "teaching" anything but how to deal with pressure. Also, beware of potential extra credit, she offers it but does not give you the credit for it . .

I took this class online and the modules had everything from the lecture. She wasnt clear on the paper but I still ended up with an A. This class is easy but the test questions are tricky. I wasnt able to read all of the books but I googled on the test and received an A- for the final grade. Interesting class too!

Great class! I took it in the summer semester and, while it moved fast, it was very enjoyable. Dr. Bao does one thing I really like with online classes -- keeps quizzes open for several days.

I truly enjoyed Dr. Bao's class. She encourages participation and her passion for the subject matter and her dedication to teaching comes through. The class was not easy, but since when did that become a criteria for rating professors?
