The class is difficult, but if you study a lot for exams and the weekly quizzes, you will do fine. There is homework after each class. The labs aren't graded, so you just have to participate during lab, and It's fine if you don't understand parts of the lab. He's a good professor, knows what he's doing, always willing to help or go over homeworks.

LOVE HIM! Very accessible out of class, and if youre not too shy, he loves participation. He gives plenty of good examples for you to perform well on quizzes and exams. Homework can be used for the quizzes, so definitely spend your time doing it. Ill miss him!

I love Professor Halpin. He genuinely cares about his students once getting to know you. He is a great professor and is always available for help outside of class. This class in general is a very hard class but as hard as it is, Professor Halpin makes it as easy as possible. I would 100% take his class again.

I absolutely adored Dr. Halpin. He assigns optional homework problems that you can try and ask questions on in the beginning of class, and you can use your homework on quizzes. Strongly suggest doing it. He loves participation and is very willing to help you individually if you put the work in, which you should because calc can be challenging.

Professor Halpin knows what he is talking about and his lectures are straight forward. He is extremely heavy on memorizing definitions for little to no reason and you basically fail unless you memorize 15 + long definitions. He is willing to answer questions in class but other then that forget it. He is stuck in his ways and stubborn, Good luck

Very straightforward, tells you what he expects. If you do the weekly labs, and sort of do the homework, youll be good on the quizzes, and for the tests, just review the quizzes and labs and youll ace the tests. Very fair teacher. So far, best math prof at Oswego by at landslide

Great guy who really cares about his students and will do whatever he can to help you succeed in the course. Its tough and requires a lot of work but he makes it bearable. Two in class exams plus the final, weekly labs and quizzes as well as ungraded homework. His labs and quizzes are really good indicators of what will be on exams.

Best professor I have ever had. He wants each one of his studetns to do well but it is not easy. You have to put in alot of work on your end but he is really there every step of the way. Do the homeworks and ALWAYS ask questions! He explains them carefully and clearly. You get the grade you work for in this class. If you work hard you will do well.

Halpin is without a doubt, the best math professor I have had at Oswego. He is very good at what he does, will help if you go to him for it, and he grades very fairly. He is very clear on his syllabus and wont stray from it at all. Be aware going in though, that your grade is mainly based off of quizzes and exams, but that's typical at Oswego.

Professor Halpin is by far one of the best math professors in SUNY Oswego. He is a very fair grader and if you go to his office hours frequently he will be more lenient when it comes to grading your test and quizzes.

I have not had many math professors at SUNY Oswego, but Professor Halpin has been the best overall professor I've had by far in any subject. Calc II has been much easier than Calc I was for me (i did not have him for it). Go to class, do the homework. You'll get good grades on the quizzes and tests as well as a free lab attendance grade.

Did not take him for calc one which was a mistake. His quizzes and tests are very fair and he actually answers the questions you ask. Not phenomenal but does his job well and is not a harsh grader and would take again.

Assigns optional homework every class, he does not collect it. Quizzes every week, pretty easy quizzes about what was discussed that week. If you ask him for help, he will gladly explain! Do not be late to class! he will call you out in front of everyone and probably tell you to not to come to class if you are going to be late again.

Absolutely terrible professor for proof classes. Lecture the entire class and very little interaction with students. Always has his back towards the student. The Math Department really need drastic improvements for their proof classes.

Professor Halpin is a really good teacher! It takes about a week or two to get used to his teaching style but after that the class is pretty easy and clearcut. He gives quizzes at the end of every week which are really easy and he doesn't try to trick you at all. To do well you need to go to class, do half the hw questions, and GO TO NEWTON CLUB.!
