Ortega is very kind and understanding. Went the extra mile to help me, showed empathy. Always gave fantastic, supportive feedback. Very quick response to emails. Will sign up for more classes with her. No exams and dropped lowest assignment scores. Love her!

Ortega was a remarkably easy teacher, the class was an absolute breeze. I would 100% recommend her PSY 100 class for dual enrolled students that need an undemanding class to start their college journey. I did not need the book (even though it was listed as required) but I would definitely suggest you watch all the lectures.

I took all of her classes offered at WCC concerning psychology. PSY100? Flawless. She was engaging and passionate; I continued to take her classes. This semester PSY257 was online due to the pandemic. The class was exam heavy. There was content on the exams that was not included in what was taught. Due to an unreasonable weight, my A- was a C+.

In person I enjoyed her and things were ok. When she was forced to move online for the 2nd half of the semester it got worse. She assigns a ton of readings and videos that you kind of have to try and cobble together. It was a ok class but be ready to do a lot of the leg work for teaching by yourself if online.

It was an online course, so there isn't much interaction but, I enjoyed the course with professor Ortega. There was a holiday over the semester and I didn't realize a quiz closed early, but she let me take it anyway.

Ortega is amazing! Was very understanding and kind when I was going through a rough time. Very empathetic and respectful. If it wasn't for her quick encouraging email responses and overall kindness I would not have been able to complete the course. I was lucky to have such a caring instructor.

Absolutely amazing and has great energy. She helps with giving great examples and tests aren't hard. Definitely show up to class because the reading in the book is confusing, but when in class you understand it more and becomes more clear. You can write on one flashcard for the test and it is helpful, just study before the test too.

I took the class online so I never met her in person, but she was quick to grade assignments and left valuable feedback. There is definitely a lot of work involved with this class, but it's an easy A if you do the work.

She was a good teacher and I liked her until she wouldn't round my friend's final grade from 72.4% into 73% because it wasn't .5 or above so she ended up failing

She's the best professor I've had. You can tell she really loves her job and cares about her students. Her lectures are great, she comes up with lots of examples so the lectures are easy to understand. There's a study guide for every test and she lets you use a notecard on tests as well. Take her!!

Maria is the best psychology teacher at WCC. She is extremely knowledgeable and cares about her students. Her teaching style is very good, and involves lots of anecdotes. It was an easy A and there are hardly any assignments given. Highly recommended if you can get a section with her.

Assignments are easy even though the videos may run over 30 mins. Powerpoint notes are essential for test preparing and the study guides are clear on what you have to review. She allows you one note card and you can write on both sides so WRITE SMALL!! I failed one test because it was after thanksgiving break and everyone forgot about it lol

Absolutely love her! Her lectures are fantastic. I learned a lot. Was grateful she gave extra credit assignments plus each exam had extra credit too. I'm telling everyone I know they should take her. She really cares about her students.

M. Ortega was the most frustrating instructor I have dealt with at WCC. The online class is extremely ridged in regard to the schedule, but the syllabus states that clearly. Communication was poor at best. She removed the final exam from blackboard before her stated dealdline! When I contacted her about this, she said she forgot! I do NOT recommend
