Max is a great instructor. He is more than willing to give extra credit too. Final isn't cumulative. If you attend his class, take notes, and make a quizlet for the test then you will succeed in his class. The few assignments outside of the tests are easy and practically a completion grade. Again, he is very committed to student success.

I took this class as an Intersession Online Summer class. So only 4 tests and 1 assignment had to be done. He responds to emails quickly and he is willing to change exam deadlines if you have a special excuse and you have to let him know earlier. For the online class, referring textbook is needed, because test questions are based on them.

Dr. Max Lu was a very funny, kind, and caring professor. You could really tell he enjoyed teaching. Very lecture heavy and can be boring, but show up to class take a few notes and you should do just fine. He posts everything online, but he gives lots of extra credit quizzes so I would go to class. At one point I had 113%. DONT buy the book.

Would recommend showing up to class and writing every thing down he puts on the slides. If you do this and then highlight in your notes what he puts on the study guide you should do well on the tests. He offers extra credit and is willing to work with you if he sees that you actually show up to class. Do not get the textbook, waste of money.

Max teaches based upon stereotypes and gives ridiculous tests for an entry level class. He will give pop quizzes just as class is ending. His saving grace is that there is no final and some of the pop quizzes are for extra credit.

Gave pop quizzes with two minutes left in class. Material is not easy and tests are hard. Prepare to do a lot of reading. I would suggest taking this class with a different professor unless you are a really huge geography fan.

Max Lu is a real gem of a guy with a sense of humor! He cares about geography and of course the country of China! He is very respected among his peers and I found him to be quiet knowledgeable. I feel that the negative reviews on professor Lu are do to him being from china and hard to understand. However, he was always warm, friendly, and funny.

I took GEOG 100 because I was told by many people that it was a very easy "A". However, I did not check this site when making my schedule and didn't realize that this is the ONLY hard teacher for the course. He is hard to understand and his tests are unreasonably hard for a Gen ED. I would not recommend this teacher to anyone.

I LOVED having him for the Geography of East Asia. He made class very interesting in the fact that he is from China and could provide pictures of his own instead of pictures off of Google and stories from his personal experience. He assigned a few papers but was pretty lenient on grading. He has an accent but you get used to it. No textbook.

Max is a great guy but his class is really hard for a Gen Ed. The tests are very confusing, I would recommend taking this class with another teacher.

Lectures are long and boring. Most of the info is irrelevant to geography. I would never take him again. All the points come from test and random pop quizzes. This stuff he teaches is stupid. He did show us shirtless pics of David Beckham so that was fun. He also really likes to talk about China.

Very friendly, sometimes funny, but Max Lu's GEOG 100 class was far too difficult considering it was a gen ed. Tests ares tricky, and over a ton of material and make up about the entire grade. An interesting class, but not worth it unless you have a very strong interest in geography or china specifically.

I really really like this professor but sadly, it is NOT an easy A like I was hoping it would be. He is very entertaining but I wish it would have been a little easier since it is just a Gen Ed.

Show up to class because he gives random quizzes which are all extra credit. All notes are online, but tests are tricky because he likes to use random facts of the day on quizzes. Study maps for test, at least 15-20% of tests are identifying.

Professor Max Lu is amazing! I <3 His class. So far we've learned about china, russia, europe and are currently learning of the united states. He gives plenty of opportunities to earn points and raise your grade. He gives detailed study guides before exams. He keeps us engaged in his lectures and shows videos and pictures. I would recommend him !

By far, the worst teacher on campus. If you want to learn about China, and only China, join this class. Test are extremely hard, study guides are pointless, just overall a horrible professor

Meh. There's a lot of extra credit in this class, but that's because the average for tests is usually a 60%. Friendly, but hard to understand, proceed with caution.
