Comment:
Professor Gould isn't as bad as everyone says he is. His teaching style is a little old fashioned, but he's not there to make your life harder. I was nervous going into the class based off of what I've heard about him, but just do the work and show up and you will be fine. His exams are hard, but an 89.5 as a final grade is an A in his class.

Lawrence Gould is one of the worst professors I have ever had. I originally thought the bad reviews were from people who didn't work hard enough or something but no. He gives multiple choice tests that only give you 1 point for getting the right answer and the rest for the work. He doesn't accept work not done "his way". It dropped a 95 by MC to 31

taking Calculus Based Physics with him, it's terrible. When he finishes a topic and there's not enough time to go onto the next topic, he'll drag the class out. The tests are nothing like the homework and practice tests, if you ask for help you'll just be more confused. He doesn't show you how to really apply whatever he teaches. DON'T TAKE HIM

Gould's lectures are not helpful for the homework nor the exams. An equation sheet was never handed out to my class. The thought process for how to pick a formula for a problem was never addressed, therefore the entire class still cannot solve any of his problems.

If you end up having this professor just got to the student success center and get a tuter even on the first day the sooner the better - all he does is lecture and but the ways he does it he is impossible to understand - me personally I think he just has a list of stuff to get through and really doesnt care about the student

This is by far the worst professor I have ever seen, taken or even heard of. This man prattles on for over an hour but supplies no useful knowledge at all. I just failed the 1st test because after 4 hours of studying I found out it was NOTHING like the homework or even the practice test. I know everyone is saying the same thing but STAY AWAY!!!!!

Unless you have a very good back ground in physics, do not take him. If you end up taking him, get a very good tutor.

Dr .Gould is one of the worst instructors I have ever had. The "Climate Alarm" course I took with him spent very little time actually discussing the climate and preparing us for the final project, worth an astonishing 52% of your final grade. His class is heavily biased, boring, and mind-numbingly repetitive. Expect a ridiculous amount of emails.

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! I took phy 120 last year, got an A and now I have no idea what i'm going to have. This guy CAN NOT teach. Has horrible multiple choice tests, doesnt do a single example problem in class, rambles on an on the whole class. I learned absolutely nothing. I hate to admit that because I am a good student

I really liked him as a professor. I learned a lot this semester, he has everything online; the homework, study guides, notes, helpful videos, the book is even available and he instructs from the book. I may not have done rock star job but I do have a good understanding of the subject because of him and am taking more of his classes in the future.

NEVER TAKE THIS TEACHER! His transparencies book that he makes you buy is completely useless. He doesn't teach or give examples. By the end of the semester the class went from 30 kids to only 10 that showed up on a regular basis. He's a smart man he just can't teach. Going to class is pointless you leave knowing just as much as when you went in.

The book of transparencies he makes you buy are pretty much useless. The exams are nothing like what you go over in class. His online hw system doesn't work right half the time. He should have been fired years ago. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

bc there are no phy majors at this school it's not surprising the teacher quality is so low. gould is a smart man, but he can't convey an idea effectively. dr mohottala or mcdonald are not amazing teachers, but they're the physics profs to take if you can help it. my sincere condolences if you end up with gould.
