Comment:
Gibson is a great teacher. The material is a lot to take in, but he's always willing to explain things multiple times, and he always has a review session for the tests, with outlines and vocab that will be on the test (which are all mc). Attendance is a huge chunk of the grade, along with taking hand-written notes.

He might not be the most interesting professor out there, but his class is really easy; he raises your grade by .2 if you go to the plus group, so if you take that into account, then you only need 88% to get a 4.0. The textbook is completely useless, everything is from class, and part of the grade is showing up and taking notes by hand.

Nice guy, if you do as he tells you the class is cake. Lectures 3 days a week, labs 2 days a week. Must take notes each day, as they are part of your test grades. The tests were a tad bit difficult. I studied the study guide he posted for countless hours and still managed to pull a C off the first test, even after I memorized the entire thing.

Require you buy the book, plus sign up for his selected websites, which each cost money. Not very approachable when you need assistance. Never in his office during office hours. He will tell you one thing and turn around and do something totally different. Don't recommend taking his class.

He just graded all my Lab notes a ZERO because I wrote the date in the wrong format!!! I attended all, and was doing well, but this will cost me MUCH in damages when combined with the effects of his unfair treatment last year. This is harrassment... stay away from him, unless you're up for a legal award for his EGREGIOUS behavior.

Attendance is not required however he takes attendance everyday and if you go to 90% of lectures your grade goes up .1pts. He may come off has a mean teacher but he is actually really nice. He is willing to help and if you missed an online assignment he is willing to extend the deadline for you personally. Make sure to study and read before tests.

Sometimes lecture can be kinda boring especially when you don't find it interesting. Make sure to follow the rules regarding the note taking. If you don't, he won't give you an ounce of credit on them, which affects test scores. Labs are easy. Solid professor.

As long as you study for the tests out of the book you'll pass the class. Lab techs are better to ask for help though because he teaches so many students. He is accommodating, honest, and provides a lot of valuable information.

Lectures are boring but survivable. He has dyslexia so sometimes he messes up terms/dates but quickly corrects himself. I don't know where people are getting he is mean...maybe he just liked me, but he was a very sweet man when I talked to him (: TA's do most of the help. Tests are hard if you don't study. Attendance taken daily. Labs are EASY.

Awful teacher, hard test. Lectures were very boring, labs were fine but that was because he wasnt teaching them. Save time and take it with someone else.

Awful teacher. Tests were a mess, study guides had nothing to do with what was on the test. Lectures were a waste of time. Someone needs to retire

Doesn't really want to be in the classroom. Ours was his only class this quarter, he still took 2+ weeks to grade assignments, and couldn't be bothered to create his own lecture material-he "borrowed" from another prof. Lab tests were a joke, they are over an enormous amount of material-52 species for the first test, know all names and features

great guy - very knowledgable just overtaxed by main position in dept. class was great - learned alot, studying required, pretty entertaining if you appreciate the casualness. i would have done better if I studied more - if you care he'll care.

Good professor, could do a little better organizing but still a good teacher. Its not that hard of a class if you pay attention to the lectures, take notes, and go to the labs. Tests are a little hard but again if you study enough they should be easy.

He loves when students come talk to him in his office, especially if it is a big class. He gave test banks, study those and you'll be fine on the tests. Smart man, but has a hard time teaching. Easy A.
