He is probably one of the most boring lecturers I have ever had. He speaks in the most monotone dry voice and the lectures are just recordings of him reading off of the power point slides. He posts practice sets with solutions and the quizzes are just the same types of problems so its almost impossible not to pass this class.

His recorded lectures are just him reading the slides word for word with no extra input. Recitations are just him reading off the work from the practice problems with no explanations behind them. His exams are only 40 questions but all the questions are worth 7 points, and he will put questions on there that we were never taught how to do.

I made a last minute switch into his class and it was the WORST idea. He seems like a smart guy but has no idea how to teach. Doesnt come with examples prepared. Confuses himself when trying to make ones up on the spot. Doesnt understand anyones questions and still tells them theyre wrong. Ive learned everything from the textbook. AVOID!!!!!!

YIKE. He is just not a good teacher, there's no other way of putting it. He's a nice enough guy and his midterms are fair. He also gave a take home final and the class had a reasonable curve so I ended up doing alright in the class, but the man is almost always impossible to follow when he's teaching. His class is a slog.

This man is a horrible teacher. Anything you learn will be from reading the book. However, his midterms and quizzes were pretty fair, although the final was awful. You won't learn anything from lectures, since they are mostly incoherent math related babbling. Read the book and learn your definitions, and you will do ok.

Mike Davis is the wrost professor I have ever had. Every day he shows up late and has nothing prepared for the day. We spend most of the day in silence as he tries to figure out what he wants to try and say. He constantly makes mistakes and doesn't use any grading system, so you never know how you're doing. The tests are close to impossible. avoid.

Absolutely awful. Takes him the entire class to do a problem(incorrectly). True and false questions worth +2,-2, or 0 so you could get negative points on an exam problem. Refuses questions outside of class. Refuses to use carmen or let anyone know their grade. Cant stress how much of a nightmare he is.

Simply copies down profs from the textbook, usually word for word. Provides a few examples in class and will do a couple of HW problems in class. Will not teach you anything you cannot read in the book which actually works nicely with the independent study based 500 level courses.

One of the worst math professors I've had here at OSU. Pompous, arrogant, etc. Given a 60 page "pamphlet" as a textbook, with no answers to any of the exercises and he gives 0 supplemental material. Prepare to re-read each 2 page section (test over 4 sections at a time) about a thousand times. hard as hell

Switch sections or teachers if you get this guy. He can barely work out the problems in class, and expects you to do insanely hard ones on the midterms. The most annoying thing was right before we'd take a midterm, he'd say "took it easy on you guys.." then it would be the most difficult thing ive ever taken. Scatterbrained, moody, and just bad

Horrible. I still dont know what the cheap tricks were on the midterms and his overall structure of the class is terrible. I suggest you take 153 if you get him as a teacher and skip back into 263 after that class because this could potentially drop your nice GPA because this class is hard.

He is a smart professor and overall a good guy, but he is terrible at teaching. Many times he never knows how to solve a problem from the beginning. He just makes it up as he goes. His explanations are difficult to follow and often not the easiest way to get to an answer. Lectures are not very helpful. I learned everything I needed in recitation.

Only go to lectures to hear the hilarious things he says. Some include "OK this will blow your mind" or "Don't you want to come to class early so I can answer the questions you have wrong?" Seems like a nice, smart guy, but has very poor teaching skills.

He is a very intelligent person but doesn't seem to take the class seriously. He is a decent teacher but everyone that's **** in the previous post probably didn't go to lecture. It was my first time taking calc and I ended with a near perfect score. As long as you read the book like every other class you'll be fine.
