nice guy but the lectures, quizes and homework hardly have anything to do with the exam. although I did all the work and attend the lecture, still get bad grades. If you don't have good understanding in physics, don't take the class.

He definitely knows what he is talking about, but he just cannot be clear. His lectures are disorganized and hard to follow. He is definitely more helpful in office hours than in lecture. Although, I wouldn't recommend him, however, finding a good physics prof at Pitt is tough. Just be prepared to do a lot of work.

Really nice guy. Tries his best to make physics interesting. Fact is, the class is boring. Physics is boring, really boring at times. Also difficult, no matter what teacher. But he's not a particularly bad teacher. And he's also a very understanding guy.

Class was a joke. Never went, homework can be done directly from a solutions manual, doesn't matter. Questions come from a test bank readily available online if you can find it(it isn't hard, search the practice exam questions). Not to mention it's a high school AP website, kind of funny if you think about it.

very nice guy. Not a great teacher because he is so dry. He tries, but the subject is just very dull.I studied the book outside of class - never went to class. Was enough for me. He will eagerly help you if you ask. I recommend if you are a self studier. If not, choose someone else. Tests aren't awful, and you get to drop one.

Such a waste of time. Avoid this professor at all costs. If you have questions, he gives really crappy explanations or he tells you to read the book or ask a TA. I thought he was supposed to be teaching the class..?

Absolutely miserable professor. There's a huge disconnect between the lectures, homework, and exams. Completely unhelpful in class or office hours. Avoid at ALL costs.

Horrible teacher. Honestly learned nothing from his lectures. It's better to self-study for his class than waste your time going to lectures. Made the final super difficult and tested details. Take another teacher if possible!

I don't think he even makes his own practice tests, just takes them from a physics question database. His tests (12 all-or-nothing multiple choice questions) don't really reflect homework or lectures, and seem almost random. Not very helpful to talk to either.

Do yourself a favor and DON'T take this professor. He'll never actually show you how to do the questions that you're expected to be able to do for homework and tests. I learned more from cramster than from the professor.

Not very clear or helpful. He thinks of himself as a fantastic teacher, yet often doesn't realize that his explanations make no sense to his students.

Boudreau is the MAN. He explains as best as he can but the book does it better. If you have a question, he has teh answer. crazy amount of bonus. exams are easy and predictable if you study.TAKE BOUDREAU

Not a good teacher at all. Class is completely useless. However, he has a nice curve in the class. He offers a lot of bonus (DO THEM ALL - 10% increase in your grade). He is a really nice guy. but i never went to class and taught myself everything with the book. For Phys 1, prob the best teacher because they all suck (from what i hear).

Joe Boudreau is a bad teacher, I mean really bad. I think he is primarily here because he does work on the LHC and his work funnels in some funding to Pitt. To be honest, I don't think he really cares about his students that much which might contribute to him being such a bad teacher. Only take him if you have to.

In my four years at Pitt, I can honestly say that Dr. Boudreau was THE WORST teacher I ever had. He's a very nice guy, but a very awful instructor. His tests are rather easy, but he really ruined what could have been a great class.

I don't know what people are saying...This class is pretty easy. I had Levy for physics 1, I thought boudreaus class was about the same in difficulty to be honest. I got a C+ in calc- so don't think that I'm great at math. Exams are straightforward I thought. I got an A. I used cramster.com

Well, another useless physics class. I attended the exam days and that's about it basically because my time was better spent doing independent study from the book than coming to listen to this man for an hour 3 times a week... However, his exams in this class were multi-choice and very basic, so if you are a good independant studier, then go for

Oh Joe...his lectures were hard to follow, and I never learned anything. Just read the book and study homework problems for the tests, which aren't that bad. I would have done a little better on them if I had actually learned anything in class or recitation, but I still did fine. He's not difficult, but he can't even solve his own math problems.

I couldn't force myself to attend this class most days. When I did, I was always armed with a Sudoku and the crossword. It was a much better use of my time to just read the textbook, which is actually quite good, rather than listen to his deathly boring lectures.
