Gives a lot of homework and a lot of papers. The assignments aren't that hard just more so time consuming, but he is strict with grading. Don't think you'll ever get a 100 or anything close to it on an assignment.

DO NOT take any class with Professor Roney. He is sarcastic, rude, and will come at everyone's throats for not answering his questions. Lectures make no sense and he makes us buy a textbook we don't even use. Homework due before first class every week and has to do with a lecture we didn't even go over yet. Extremely tough grader.

If you want an A, don't take this class. there is weekly homework that takes FOREVER, and it's on lectures that haven't even happened yet. Don't buy the textbook what he wants to cover isn't in there. His essays are almost impossible to get above a B+ on, he will ALWAYS find something that is wrong and take off at least 10 points for little mistake

I would NOT recommend professor Roney to anyone. He is rude and is a very hard grader. His papers are almost impossible to write with all of his requirements. I did not choose him I got stuck with him because it was the only class left. If possible do not take him.

nice guy, wants us to do well, but is very lecture heavy and has homework due before every class on blackboard. Classes were both on zoom and in person. There is a lot of writing but he has everything on blackboard in advance. I also formatted a paper incorrectly and he emailed me feedback and said I could resubmit it late without penalty.

I do not recommend professor Roney. His syllabus was extremely disorganized and often contradicts itself. He also made us purchase a very expensive textbook that we never used once during the semester.

Prof Roney is a good professor. He is very passionate about history, but if you don't like lectures don't take him. Grade is made up of 3 papers(not an easy A), a midterm, and final. He gives a study guide thats an exact replica of the midterm and final, its just a lot of memorizing. Definatly need to work for your grade but he is very helpful!

Easy teacher. As log as you go to class you are fine. The hardest parts of the class are the midterm and final but he tells you WhT u need to know its iust a lot of memorizing. There are 3 papers not bad but a lot of effort to get an a

Prof. Roney was the hardest teacher I have ever had. He assigns papers every week and grades them very harshly. He also expects you to know people and topics he has never even brought up and then gets mad that you don't remember it. The research paper was also killer (2000 words, around 8 pages).

Needed to take this course to fulfill a requirement but not for my major. Lectures are not too boring but can be monotonous. I didn't expect the level of writing that was done in the course. On top of that, an extremely tough grader. Overall would not take courses with him again. If you are a history major, makes sense. All else, stay away!

He really isn't that bad. I was expecting him to be worse from reading these ratings. Yes he is VERY boring and it is extremely difficult to focus in his class. But he is a nice guy, is very understanding, and is willing to help you with anything you need. He is clear on grading and wants to help you improve each time you receive a grade back.

The class wasn't that bad. Still he was extremely sarcastic and rude. There were 3 papers only 3 pages long not that bad. Mid term and final was basically the study guide. He was really into his lectures but they were all over the place and didn't make sense. He's an easier grader. Attendance is mandatory.

Based on what people said I thought he was going to be a lot worse than he actually was. He lectures the whole time but he tries to make it interesting. There isn't that much work and he is very understanding. You have to do three papers the whole year and you can choose when to hand them in and the topic, and then the midterm and final.

He talks the entire class period and goes over powerpoints. Gets very boring but he is enthusiastic about the subject. You are assigned three primary source papers and a midterm and final exam. No tests other than the two finals. Could not receive higher than a B no matter what i did.

Just don't take his fighting Irish class. I don't know how is in others but in this he is just plain confusing. His lectures are all over the place he can't finish a though before starting another. You can tell he knows everything about what he's teaching he just gets so excited and loses the students.

Professor Roney has good intentions, when he lectures, he's really trying to get the point across of what the topic is about but however it can be dry. He's very nit picky when it comes to papers but like I said, he has good intentions. He's very passionate about what he lectures which can be boring for someone not interested in the subject.

Professor Roney is one of my favorite teachers at SHU! He loves what he does and knows what he's talking about. He's really enthusiastic about what he teaches and his lectures can be very long, but they're usually interesting! As long as you participate often and do the required readings you'll be sure to get a good grade. ALWAYS willing to help.
