Comment:
Scully is a very nice man and a good professor. His lectures could get boring at times, but that is expected with a history course. No homework and reading the textbook is not necessary because he gives outlines each class. Tough grader on the research paper, however he curves his quizzes which helps. Wants people to participate. A solid choice.

Father Scully is a great guy. He is very helpful and he cares about his students and wants them to succeed. His lectures get boring at times because it's history and who wants to listen to history. Getting a head start on your research paper is the biggest piece of advice I can offer because the sooner you get it done the better.

NO. If you want to have a mental breakdown before the midterm or final and you enjoy listening to someone talk about who knows what, then you belong in his class. Writing notes that make sense is almost impossible because he gets side tracked and you don't know what he's talking about anymore. Very awkward to talk to as well, maybe just girls tho

Fr. Scully is a nice guy and very clear with what he expects. Clearly very smart and knows what he is doing. If you don't do well it is because you either don't care or aren't paying attention because the class is honestly very reasonable. Would take again.

If you want to be bored out of your mind, then take Scully's class. His lectures dragged on, and he loved to talk about documents that your supposed to read (no one ever does tho). His exams are worded so weirdly. He lets you miss 5 days without dropping your grade. He wants people to participate.

Father Scully is a really nice person but his class is very hard. Although he gives you a study guide for the tests it does not really help and the tests are very hard. But if you go to office hours and ask for help he takes it into consideration.

Extremely hard grader and takes points off for papers not written the way he likes. Grammar heavy and points will be taken off. Lectures are extremely boring but he counts attendance towards participation. Multiple choice on tests are worded terribly

Never used the connections textbook, used the document textbook every day (you don't need to read the documents unless there is a quiz), and we used the mandatory reading book. No homework. Only 3 quizzes, 2 test (midterm and final) one final research paper (8 pages). Need to participate. Must take own notes no handouts, very easy if you study.

Your average history class, lecture and take notes and not much homework. Grade depends mostly on midterm research paper and 2 tests. Study throughout the semester and you should be fine. To me the tests seemed kinda hard, the way they were worded. I liked him

Participation is important to him. he will call on you if you dont actively participate. Don't have to read textbook but if you are bad at history you should. His lectures are difficult to follow. hard to understand documents to read for class. He is a bit cocky. Easier paper assignments than other HST profs tho.

Very good teacher, open to questions and commentary during class. Defiantly need to read the textbook and take notes to do well on the test. He is a very fair grader and offers extra credit during the semesteResearch paper isn't bad if you don't procrastinate! Lecture based but participation is strongly encouraged because it could safe your grade!

I am a history major and one day when I went to his office he told me I was a good student but implied I was basically a failure to my major, I wasn't aware getting a B+ and having countless pages of notes and knowing history constituted as not being great in my major. If you can get out of World Civ with him, do so.

Impartial to a fault. Father Scully has a particular way of doing things, and if you disagree with him, you are wrong in his eyes. The actual merit of your work doesn't matter if he doesn't like the way you did it. Very few assignments, all of them large, and the tests often contain awkwardly-worded questions. Lectures are hideously boring.

Father Scully is a good professor, but you have to work hard for the grade. His class is mostly lecture. You will read one book throughout the semester. He gives study guides for the midterm and final, but what is on the study guide is not on the final.

He has a set of prewritten notes on the board and his lecture is based on that. He is not hard to understand. Sometimes he jumps from different topics which make it difficult to take notes but it's manageable. Some short reading assignments, midterm, Research paper and a final. Some-what of a hard grader but easy to pass. He follows the syllabus.

This man..where do I even begin. If you want him to like you, be a boy. Otherwise you're out of luck. He picks favorites, he grades based on if he likes it or not (i.e. written in the EXACT way he want's it), he will tear your papers apart and add 300 commas and cross out words and write synonyms. This man can s my d.

He is not a very good professor. The questions on exams are vague and he grades them tough. He is not very friendly to talk to one-on-one. There are better history professors out there.
