GO TO CLASS! Pay attention to the films and author's background! read all the books and take good notes. Theres only midterm and final so do good on it. There is a 4 extra credit which you have to go watch a play, GO WATCH THE PLAY BECAUSE IT HELPED A LOT!!!

Great professor! Passionate about what he teaches. It's hard to get an A in the class there are only 2 tests, on the midterm I got a 91 and on the final exam i got a 88 and left the class with a B+ It's important to take notes on what he talks about Tests are pretty easy if you read the plays and went to class. But one of my favorite classes by far

Don't take him! Not an easy A and it's just a Gen Ed. Talks WAY too much!! Have to read plays as well as watch movie. Attendance isn't mandatory. Can get movies on reserve from library. Midterm and final questions are too specific and can trick you.

James Farrell is a fantastic professor filled with a true gift of knowledge! The class is very laid back (easy A if you have half a brain). 2 papers (Midterm and Final, 3 - 5 pgs) and a class led discussion of the play of your desire. I have learned a great deal in this course and am grateful to have had this professor. Shame theatre is being cut!

Class was interesting: read the play come prepared; watch the movie. I did like the class. Don't get his grading policy, no real guidelines. I think I'll get a decent grade overall tho; he did say he doesn't really give A's which is dumb. Kinda weird policy for someone who doesnt really have any

Took to for my theatre minor. Very laid back. Gives good feedback on plays. Unclear on which readings he wanted us to do for class, which made me unprepared even when I thought I was. I dont understand his grading policy, because even though I had good attendance, participated, & handed in assignments completed and on time, I still only got a B!

it was a summer class, and I didn't really care for the material - a couple mamet plays, tennesse williams was a good one (sw bird of youth), lost in yonkers, etc. I'm an english major and it might well have been an english class. reading scripts and watching movies- it wasn't much of a theater perspective. he was a good teacher and engaging though

I graduated ten years ago and found this guy to be incredibly supportive and knowledgeable about the subject matter - Unlike many of the other profs in the department who were just frustrated about their dismal acting careers. I'm so glad he is still teaching.

A decent prof, but be sure to do you work so you can interact with him on the right level, otherwise you'll incur his wrath. He is really passionate about his subject matter and a nice guy, very approachable.

Great, but a hard grader, be sure to listen to EVERYTHING he says in class, review the films two or three times, and read the book intently, as you will be tested on minutae
