I think Patrick is a good guy but way too many assignments for an online class. Multiple discussions and assignments each week and 4 projects throughout the semester. Having a full class schedule, social life, and work life makes this pretty hard to keep up since his class got put on the back burner. Not lenient on making up work.

I loved taking History with Mr. Ashwood. He's a very funny person and makes his lectures interesting. I learned a lot in just a semester with him. In order to pass, definitely do the required readings and the vocab list given towards the end of the unit. If you do these simple tasks, easy A.

When I read the Death and Dying Syllabus, it seemed like this class was going to be super tough. Mr. Ashwood is not a tough grader, but you definitely need to follow all of his directions when it comes to assignments and discussions. You will read literally every chapter in the textbook, but this course overall is life changing. You'll learn lots!

Tons of stuff for an online class. 4 three-page essays, 3 books, 2 weekly assignments, very hard exams, and discussions that you need to post on multiple times a week. He graded my essays pretty fair but I really didn't have time for everything else and he wasn't lenient w/ the assignments for the amount of them. 3.8 science student and I got a B+.

Mr. Ashwood is a very nice man. This class was very interesting but sometimes his lectures were boring. You go to a funeral home and hospice comes for a day but the rest of the time is lecture. You write 5 papers, read 1 book, and there are online quizzes about 1 a week. Tests are average and he sometimes mumbles but I would still recommend.

I don't understand how people would ever fail his classes. Super easy! Tests are a little hard, but the SHORT papers he grades really generously. The class is all lectures and he gives points on random days so show up for those. I didn't use the book at all and rented all the short books for free at the library. Funny guy and EASY classes.

Ashwood was a great professor for me! The material was interesting and straightforward. There was only one book to read outside of the textbook, and I loved it so much it's my favorite book now. There are several projects and papers but they aren't too difficult and he doesn't grade them too harshly. The tests always have extra credit & are curved.

After taking death and dying i'm so glad I did! I learned relevant things and it was really easy. He grades really easy for papers and tests are not too hard. There are enough easy A projects if you are awful at taking tests. Didn't use my book at all. I used the book website to help with studying, quizzes are on their too! Take this class!

This class isn't meant for someone looking for an easy A. This class is intense both academically and emotionally. It's thorough and informative and eye-opening. you do a couple of projects that literally change you completely. I highly recommend this class and this professor, he is by far the best online teacher I have ever had, hands down!!!!!!!!

His class is easy if you come to class every day, take notes, pay attention to his lecture, read the material, and do the papers. It's really that simple! I had a great time in his class, and thought he did a fantastic job at presenting the material in a way that you can understand. Also took a US history class from him and thought it was great!

DONT take this class: too much reading. Don't like textbook (he says cheapfree online) - TOO LIBERAL!! Have to read xtra books & do extensive papers. & if he dont like ur view, ur grade is low! Dont skip class for ANY reason: bad grade! HARD TESTS: take good notes & read! Will NOT choose this teacher EVER AGAIN! Several classmates & me dropped it!

I took Death and Dying with Professor Ashwood and enjoyed it so much I took Urban Studies and enjoyed that just as much. There is work involved, like reading, but don't let that get in the way. His assignments are relatively easy, enjoyable and he communicates well with students. I'd recommend him to anyone going to Hawkeye and for this course.

Interesting class and helpful professor. Someone mentioned having 4 projects and that they were long/hard, but I have to disagree. Each of them took me two hours tops to complete, and I got at least 95% on all of them. Be consistent with the discussions and assignments and don't get behind in the book. One of my favorite classes/teachers.
