A upper level chemistry course in the middle of a pandemic that is ONLINE. You pay the same amount of money for the course and drive over an hour to campus for in person exams. You put in more effort than you ever have before, but its not enough. You get little to no feedback all semester. Your professor grades extremely harshly.

This class is incredibly hard, exams are even harder. There is no curve or extra credit. To be honest he does not care about teaching just about failing his students

This class is not easy and it is incredibly overwhelming , but ask for help! Students and teachers worked together and that is what got me through. They are accessible and I spent a total of several hours this semester going over hw and they are so helpful. Don't skip class and PRACTICE! Don't take with physics or Organic Chem simultaneously.

Seems like a nice guy but it is like he makes his tests impossible to pass on purpose. There is no extra credit and his lectures aren't very detailed. Last semester we were supposed to have a state final on a saturday night but he made his own, unbelievably hard final and made us take it friday morning. We lost a whole day of studying...

I am a highly motivated chemistry major with a love for science, but I could not pass this class. This was the hardest class I have ever taken and I will be retaking it with someone else. Dr. Cooper is a good man and incredibly smart, I look up to him. Sadly he makes his own tests extremely difficult and they weigh heavily into the final grade.

I retook this after having it with Dr. Asala 1st and Cooper was significantly better. He gave good and clear expectations and was always available for help. He actually taught the material that was on the test since he was the one making it. Slightly condescending at times, but I don't think he means it in the way that we may perceive it.

I would like to thank Dr. Cooper for helping realize that the chemistry major was not for me because I would end up as sad, boring, and monotone as he is so shoutout to him.

Cooper is tough. He's very smart and can be condescending when answering questions. You have to work hard for your grade. 4 exams and 10 HWs. Exams are hard. Do the sample ones online. Final isn't too bad as long as you understand the exams. HW is pretty tough too. 30% of your grade is the lab, which helps. He will help you if he sees you trying!

Dr. Cooper is a great professor. Pay attention, do the work, read the book, work the problems. He'll help you if you put in the effort and show that you take the class seriously. He's extremely smart, and always makes class interesting!

The book and the homeworks/tests are like Mars and Jupiter. Neither have anything to do with the other, and it's so hard! If you don't know how to do something in the homework, it's not even in the book. It's like having a Japanese book and the hw/tests are in Chinese. You can make a B, but an A is so hard.

The class is difficult but he knows how to teach and very fluent with the material. You have to read the text and study a lot. Lab is a huge contribution and you will be expected to understand what you completed there. (i.e. know the lab 'chemistry') If you want to learn Quant he is the man, if you just want to pass the class I wouldn't take it.

Dr Cooper is very good instructor. His lectures are very fluid and he asks appropriate probing questions in class so you walk away with a clear understanding of the concepts. You review, and dive deeper into, a lot of 1252 stuff with a few new techniques. If you do your HW you'll do fine on the quizzes. Also take the time to make sure you understand what you are accomplishing in labs. The 1251/1252 mentality of just doing what it tells you won't fly. You need to comprehend the procedures.

I studied my butt off, worked every problem set, went to class every day, took detailed notes and still failed the class. Problem sessions are USELESS with him, because he tends to talk to you in a condescending manner and won't really explain well enough. He is very knowledgeable but the tests are not related to the practice material at all.

Honestly Cooper's lectures are very boring..but sometimes he can be so intellectual it's entertaining. DO NOT LET A WEEK GO BY WITHOUT STUDYING! Whoever said if you "study hard and do problem sets you'll be fine"...maybe that worked for them but not me. I worked my butt off & got a 69 & didn't pass. Here we go round 2! Read book before lecture!!

Dr. Cooper is extremely smart, and at times, expects us to be as smart as him. Chem 1252 is not easy, but he will try to help you in every possible way. Attend problem session and post/answer questions on the moodle discussion page. A lot of people failed, but that's because the material is heavy. If you study and do the work, you'll be fine.

Great guy, and a good teacher. He's very passionate about his material, and as such, tends to get ahead of himself, but he'll always clarify something if you ask. The class is a lot of work, yes, but it's chemistry! I also don't see why other people label him as 'snobby'... he's very smart, and I think he knows it, but I don't see him as a snob.

Comment:
Unfortunately, it's true. Dr. Cooper comes across as very pretentious and tends to talk down to students, whether he realizes it or not. It's unfortunate, because I think the guy knows his stuff. Avoid him unless you don't mind that behavior.
