worst prof I've ever had. I put more time into this class than all of my other classes combined. I literally taught myself everything I learned in this class...horrible notes, puts random problems on tests...very smart but a terrible teacher.

SO OLD. he teachers like they did in the 50s. his quizzes are tests are over the most random points in his lecture. his notes were HORRIBLE. written everywhere, on top of each other, in between, anywhere. they didn't make much sense either. talks down to students. all i could think about during class was how he was still alive. SO OLD

If you want a terrible teacher who talks down to you, who gives unorganized notes, and tests on irrelevant details in order to make the average on every test, and the overall average an F, then Dr. Behrman is for you. He is tied for number 1 on my "worst OSU professors" list. He cares more about flaunting his intelligence than teaching.

This man obviously knows his stuff but that doesn't help the students one bit! He prefers to flaunt his intelligence to intimidate the class. I went into his office hours for some advice and assitance and all he did was talk down to me and tell me to memorize my notes. His exams cover the tiny details of his notes resulting in an F average! Awful!

Comment:
As far as teaching goes, he's bad but not terrible. His testing methods, however, are horrible. He picks out the most irrelevant and insignificant details from his notes and comprises his tests entirely from them which makes it near impossible to do well no matter how well you know the material. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!

What everyone said about him below is about right. He is not very "step-by-step" if that is how you learn, you should avoid him. He is also not concise with what you should study, no reviews or study guides for exams. 2 midterms and a final with no quizzes. Nice guy but bad teacher.

Stay away from this professor. You are on your own in this class - no office hours, no reviews and certainly vague, "find the answer yourself" e-mails. Come prepared to write notes, as his exams consist of only this - don't even bother buying the text book. He constantly enjoys flaunting his intelligence and asking questions his TAs fail to answer.

Comment:
The material is quite superficial compare to other biochem classes. Exams are quite simple but require a lot of thinking. Stay away if this will be your first biochem class, but highly recommended if you want to take this class to fulfill an elective credit. Overall, he's a good professor.

Awful prof. does nto test on relevant info, just what he finds important. skips many if not most major topics in book! no notes given online, no guided notes, no helpful hints, might talk for 45 minutes and only fill up 1 black board. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

If you ever have the chance to take BIOCHEM at OSU, skip the quarter this man is teaching. Don't even buy the textbook, as he lectures straight from his notes. The class average is a big fat F at the moment. PLEASE, stay away from this man! He would rather intellectually stroke himself than teach something efficiently to his students. NO MERCY.

Thank goodness he's gone. I had the misfortune of having him as my professor (groan)- he is smart, no doubt, but he doesnt know how to teach. He likes mumbling only to the front rows and u wonder why those kids fare better! (I had a previous class and could make it any earlier to class) Uses his intelligence to his advantage to intimidate students.

Best professor I had at State. He and Paquette were (ARE) leaders in their fields. I did some research for Behrman during a summer and worked in his lab for the rest of my time at state. Super funny man once you get to know him. Extremely helpful, and is he f-ing smart or what. Electron pushing will never be the same! I could sit and listen to him lecture for hours.
