Comment:
C++ was great with Hayes. She is like your grandmother. She cares a lot about you and teaches extremely effectively. It is a slow class, she takes her time and repeats a lot of stuff. But her assignments are easy and the tests are fair. You will learn a great deal about C++ by the end, aside from the STD library. Fantastic professor

Comment:
C++ with Hayes is extremely dull. She does not allow laptops in class and teaches at a snail's pace. She uses a lot of metaphors that don't make sense and tries to personify every feature, function, and variable in C++. This class is an easy A if you have the attention span of a sphinx, but you will not be competent with C++ by the end of it.

I have her for Intro to Programming. I have prior knowledge and experience in programming. Her lessons are very dull, and she will teach one way of programming one day and then a different the next. On the tests she will only accept one way which is not clear. Her test questions are also very unclear. I would recommend avoiding this professor.

Helen Hayes is a wonderful Professor! She explains topics very clearly and gives you hand-outs so there is no Textbook. There are quizzes almost every class but they are easy if you pay attention. Her tests are all based on the quizzes and handouts. A really easy class; if you study there's no reason why you shouldn't get an A.

She is an ANGEL. Pay attention in class and do your programs. Study hard for tests and it is a given A. You will learn a lot from her. Only concern, I do not know how well she will prepare us for the "real" world. You do learn a lot though.

She is such a nice lady. In CS1, we had no textbook, but about 1-2 program assignments per week that were corrected but not truly graded (must be done) and a quiz every class that only counts for attendance. She drills basics into your head and the class moves slowly, but you learn a lot. The grade is dependent on 3 tests and your lab period grade.

Helen is a very nice lady who was my advisor for a while, and I had a good experience with her C++ Object Oriented class, good assignments and decent presentation for that. However, her Algorithms class was one of the worst ever, Lots of complex math proofs with poor explanation of homeworks and a bit dull. I'd only recommend her for programming.

Helen Hayes is a great teacher. There is usually kids coming into CS 1 & 2 with prior programming experience so she tries to balance the class accordingly. Her assignments are pass/fail but unlimited chances to redo the assignments. Exams aren't easy but she tells you everything on them and sometimes the first question. Recommend her over others.

Awful. I don't understand how some of these reviews are so positive. She rambles on and on about pointless analogies and barely relevant points. On top of this, she assigns a lot of work. To make things worse, she doesn't use textbooks so you have no reference besides the handouts she makes. She also barely has any office hours.

I have had Professor Hayes for Computer Science I and II, making C++/ OOP my third class with her. She is a sweet woman who is willing to see her students succeed at any cost. Can be boring at times, but very worth it.

Professor Hayes is such a nice, caring woman. She goes out of her way to make sure her students do well because she knows the material is very difficult. As long as you aren't a complete moron there is no reason not to do well.

I had Professor Hayes for Comp Sci 2, and I have to say is one of the best professor's I've had. Her tests are hard and she's a difficult grader but she is very good at what she teaches. Her examples she uses in class are clear and she's extremely helpful during office hours. You will learn a ton of valuable information in her classes. Just study.

She is still teaching, but should retire. Prof. Hayes certainly knows her stuff and frankly is an okay teacher, but grades very unfairly! She basically treats intro classes as if they were advanced. With thw way she grades, you could technically get negative points on a test. Also, she'll only see you at office hours, you can't call or e-mail her.

Very nice lady but not the most effective teacher. Very meticulous grader whose grading system must be adapted to by the student. You will learn more in the labs than in her class but if you study hard enough for exams there's no reason not to earn an A.

This was my third class with her (for the third straight semester) and I'm surprised I even managed to last this long. She doesn't teach stuff that you will be able to find in your typical programming book (better have your own if you plan on doing this, she only uses handouts and there is no book whatsoever). Tests are graded too meticulously.

She's kinda like a grandma-type professor. She'll help as long as you go to her, she's not gonna be like "oh your grades are low. need help?" she's kinda boring, but her class is ok. she likes butter scotch candy.

Extremely boring class. This material could've been taught in the first half hour, yet she insists on keeping you until he very last minute. All memorizing code, those who cannot memorize, do not take this with Hayes. Horrible teacher and worst analogies ever.

Very nice and helpful professor but the test can be difficult/impossible if you do not do the assignments. The assignment are very important even if they do not count towards your grade. Just do the work and you will get a good grade.
