Comment:
Professor Freedman is a solid choice for Chem lab. He'll give a nice short lecture before each lab and offers clear help when you ask. He handled the hybrid lab great in 2020, giving an in-person lab every other week along with an online lab, neither of which were too boring or hard to understand.

Everyone seems to think he teaches well. This is true. HOWEVER, I don't feel that he gives proper due to the subject of Chemistry. He overlooks too many concepts and teaches the test. If you are interested in becoming a Chemist,I would avoid taking classes with him. Dr Ferguson would be a much better option (or whoever else is teaching the class)

He is good at teaching things that are simple, but when it comes to the more difficult subjects he seems confused himself (his face turns red at those times). He is interested in doing whats best for him and is not a fair grader. The whole chemistry department in New Paltz descriminates between premed students and students going into research.

Prof Freedman is a good Gen Chem 1 teacher. Sometimes his lectures can be boring, but he really loves the material and tries to make it interesting. He is a really nice guy and is VERY helpful with helping the students. He wants us to understand and do well. I would def recommend him if you are taking Gen Chem 1.

Best teacher ever. Everything he says if extremely clear and makes perfect sense. Convinced me to become a chemistry major after having his class for one semester. If you have the luxury of taking a class with this professor I suggest you do so.

Freedman is amazing. I seriously have never had another professor like him. Both an extremely intelligent and knowledgeable professor as well as one who actually cares about people. Honestly, I wish he were single so I could date him. We have chemistry. Harhar.

The best teacher i've ever had in my life. He makes a very boring class extreamely interesting, and he explains everything very well. If you go to all of the lectures and put an effort into studying the notes and doing the h/w you will get an A in his class

Wow. I walked in thinking I hated Chem and within a week, it was my favorite subject. This man is amazing. His teaching methods are very staight forward and he does expect a bit in the way of HW but it's good practice for his tests. He is the best professor in the whole of the science dept. TAKE HIS CLASS!

Professor Freedman is one of the best professors I have ever had. I took his course five years ago, and when I saw that I could do rating for professors on here, he was one of the first who came to my mind to rate. I have since gone on to an Ivy League University, and I haven't seen any better in terms of teaching!

Great teacher. THe material is hard and you need to put some time and effort in as well. He is way better than St. John's wart or whatever the other one is. Freedman is where it's at for chemistry. Super nice guy and he even talks about cheese sandwhiches sometimes!

Easily the best teacher New Paltz has. He is organized, competent, and effective. Despite ongoing accomplishments in his personal research, it is obvious he has not forgotten that his primary responsibility is to his students.

Do not expect the comprehensive lectures and notes he gives in undergrad classes-lecture notes will not help in HW/tests-you're on your own. If the book is unclear, good luck! Great for undergrad classes, but stay away from 500s.
