She was an okay professor, she did respond to emails quickly. How ever she doesn't give enough feed back to know how to correct you essays the next time. I have always been really good at writing papers and even passed the english 12 Ap test in HS, yet somehow my papers ALWAYS got C's in her class no matter how long i spent writing them.

Professor Bouie was always helpful and didn't grade hard at all. The only thing my class was assigned was five essays for the whole semester. She answers her email quickly and tries her best to explain one's question. Overall, as long as you try on essays, you will be guaranteed a great grade.

Professor Bouie is truly not as horrible as people describe her out to be. She is a tough grader but an honest one. If you put no real effort into your work dont be expecting a good grade. Very slow at grading papers tho. Very understanding to personal situations in peoples lives. I took her class online due to covid

Professor Bouie is a good professor. I had to retake English 101, so I was nervous when I took her class. She is not a super tough grader and the papers are not hard. Very understanding when I did not meet the requirements for a paper at the deadline and allowed me to turn it in the next day.

She truly was a strict English teacher (full disclosure, I took her as an honors teacher), and will make you truly earn whatever grade you receive. You will not get out of her honors course without working hard. That being said, she was extremely fair and worked with students often. She doesn't always show up to her office hours on time, however.

She is not a good teacher, and she is really rude most of the time when you ask her questions. I would never take her class again and it takes her like 3 weeks to grade a paper. She also has very unclear grading criteria

Claimed there wouldn't be homework except the 6 at home movie assignments, but then would want typed responses after each movie we viewed in class. The 6 assignments are not too hard, but make sure you do them ahead of time they are to be submitted in sets of two on three different dates. The midterm and final are semi hard but you get to use book.

Lol. This lady let us watch Schindler's list, blackfish, a Holocaust movie and another movie throughout the year. All of which took about 90% of class up. Otherwise, she makes you sit and talk in groups about nothing lol.

I enjoyed class discussions but did not learn much. Canvas never worked or she couldn't set it up correctly. Grades/papers took forever to get back so there was little opportunity to improve based on feedback. I had anxiety over what my grade would be throughout the semester because grades were always MIA. Really didnt use the books either.

I took Professor Bouie for english 101. We only had one paper the whole semester and the rest were easy in-class assignments and the final. Easy A and she is very caring. I really recommend taking her class.

Very unorganized. Doesn't follow any syllabus and half the class was confused on when things were actually due. Takes forever to receive grades back, so you have no idea how you are doing and her feedback on papers is very vague. Definitely would not take again.

This professor is very unorganized. You won't know 50% of your grade until after the drop date. Her grading is a bit tough, but as long as you're decent at writing papers you'll be fine. I suggest not taking her class unless you're a straight-A student.

If you wanna watch Blackfish for around 3-4 weeks and the Jewish guy who saves jews for a week then take this class. Movies galore. Otherwise poor at grading. I used to get all A's on my high school papers, and my teacher was teacher of the year of 2018 and she was my english teacher. Then I go to jjc and get bouie and she gives me C's lol..

Not my favorite prof. Her essay prompts are vague. If you have two typos in your paper you'll probably get a B, even if you wrote a fabulous piece. She seemed very unprepared for many classes. i.e. forgot to assign things, forgot the things she did assign, lectures seemed unplanned. Was rather outspoken and preachy as far as politics go.

Professor Bouie was very enthusiastic and is very knowledgeable so she made the class interesting. Took this class over the summer, and I don't know if it was because she was swamped with other work, but as long as you did the work and showed an understanding of the material, she gave you full credit. Finished with a 100% in this class.

Nice lady, but not a good professor. Doesn't utilize icampus. Doesn't have a clear grading rubric. According to her, the reason my first paper got a C is all about grammar. However, 1 mistake that she corrected me is wrong. I told her and she needed to open the book to check. She doesn't reply emails. Not recommended if you actually wanna learn.

Awful instructor. Refuses to accept any opinion other than her own. Don't even try to reach her through email. She never replies. Ridiculously tough grader. Barely reads your essay while grading. I learned nothing in her class. Unclear rubrics. She rarely even knew what was going on in her own class. Sorry if you're in her class now. Good luck!

A lot of us in the class found ourselves unable to reach her via e- mail as she didn't respond. She also didn't return phone calls. It took about 2 weeks to get out graded papers back.

Warning do not take this professor if you in anyway think in a more conservative manor. Her essay prompts force you to support things you would typically would not. She also grades essays differently on which prompt you choose to write on, same errors that I would receive those who wrote on the subject she would most support had the errors ignored
