Prof. Buccholtz is a prof who is trapped in the 80's. His videos are prehistoric and his lectures make absolutely no sense. Spent countless hours going to other resources. When you ask him for help he just confuses you more. He should try to switch up his teaching ways bc we are no longer in the 80's, Louis. Stop saying "Oh Yes". Thanks.

Thought provoking lectures that prepare you for a new way of thinking of physics. He will indoctrinate and culture you into the subject. Brilliant person and it's a pleasure to be in his class. Only con is my favorite class is placed at the end of the day and I'm usually brain dead after hours of physics and math. Go to his problem solving sessions

Be expected to be pushed. This professor prepares you for the real world. His policy on no-phones during class seems a bit out-dated until you sit through one of his lectures. You would be crazy to not give him your full attention, as he is very passionate about education.

Buch is awesome. For upper division he teaches you how to train your brain to think like a physicist. If you're a physics major, you can't go through the program without taking at least one class from him, which is a treat. All physics department upper div classes are taught at PhD level at Chico. They over-prepare you! Grad school has been cake!

There's no question that Dr Buchholtz is brilliant, enthusiastic, and has a contagious passion for understanding the world. The class however will require more focus, critical thinking, and sheer time than you probably have ever committed. He largely teaches in theory but if you can follow along you'll come away with a lot.

Knows his physics, but relies on students reading the textbook and working out the problems on their own. If you need help, attend the study sessions, which aren't really that helpful for sometimes he takes an hour on one problem. Goes off on tangents a lot, rarely does an example in class. Do ALL the homework and labs, you will need it.

Have had physics profs at 4 universities and have taught physics/mathematics at 6 colleges/universities. This man is the best I have seen! Yes, he is tough! Deal with it! Work hard and prepare for lectures! Yes, he lives for physics (and many other things) and you should take advantage of the opportunity to have a Nobel level instructor.

he is cool... i had an advanced knowledge of physics prior to this class. do the homework, reading the book isn't that key if you know how to do the homework. his lectures are interesting but are not relevant to the test!

Didn't like how he got pissed if you stood up to go to the bathroom. I think I'm old enough to know when I need to pee or not. Read like a mother trucker, do your homework, go into the problem sessions, study, and learn not to use an idiot box (his term for calculator), and you will be fine.

Best Physics teacher, by far. Physics is innately difficult, but he makes it terribly interesting and...dare I say, fun. He knows the stuff and knows how to teach it. Attend lecture, do the HW, maybe go to a few study sessions and you'll be fine.

He is into physics, I highly suggest that you take his class if you want to learn physics. He will spend many hours outside of class more than willing to help, and is a very interesting guy to have a conversation with. he makes the hard topic of physics very easy to learn. TAKE HIM.

He is very much so a conceptual physicist and so in class he dwells on the theories of physics and spend little time actually teaching how to apply these concepts. ONLY take this class if you have an open mind to physics and want to spend a lot of time reading the book!

amazing teacher. hard class, must read a lot, and do a lot of hw, but if you read and can understand a lil bit of the book, the lectures make everything crystal clear. so much energy in class, so much fun. really enjoyed this class, physics is hard, but he makes it enjoyable. highly recomend taking him. best professor i've ever had!

Great guy, tough class, lots and lots of homework, but if you do it, test's are easy. know the main concepts of the class, and you can pass it fairly easily. all tests are on a curve, hw and labs are not, but the whole class together is curved. enjoyable class, makes it interesting, very smart man. i recomend him

If you want to learn physics, take him. If you want to slide by and learn zip, skip him. Maybe if Buchholtz is too hard, maybe you ought to change majors. Very enthusiastic...he is ALIVE for physics. He made the class very, very interesting, but, sorry, you have to work...this is college stuff!

Brilliant professor; expects students to have expert understanding of conceptual physics in order to solve difficult problems. If physics is a difficult subject for you, avoid his E&M class, you'll suffer immensely.
