This class is BRUTAL. I am a good student; I studied probably 20 hours for each test, and never got above a C. I went to every class and lab, participated, and took detailed notes on each lecture. This is a DENSE course with a TON of information and VERY detailed tests. Although the prof. is a GEM, I would not recommend for non-stem majors.

One of my favorite professors! Lectures are fascinating even if you're not part of the EOS department with lots of samples, models, and demonstrations in class to break down the slow and complex inner workings of the earth. A great survey course of the best that the department has to offer. She would respond to email in minutes and very reasonable.

As a humanities major (and remote student for this semester), Professor Gardulski did everything in her power to give us a proper Tufts education given the circumstances. She is the kindest professor I have had. The class itself is very difficult and dense and difficult for non-STEM students. Be prepared to make it a priority due to course load.

I am not a STEM person and ended up really enjoying this class. You can tell that Professor Gardulski really cares about her students and the course material. You don't need the textbook, just take detailed notes on the lectures and you'll be fine. Exams are medium to hard but all it really requires is memorization for a good grade.

Took EOS1 as a humanities student. tl;dr, very steep learning curve if you haven't been exposed to geology & a lot of jargon. HW and exams are all very tough. HOWEVER, Prof. Gardulski is an amazing, caring prof who went out of her way during COVID to take care of her students. Humanities kids: You can succeed, but prepare to prioritize this class.

Professor Gardulski is so amazing! She is engaging and clearly loves her work. Her lectures and labs are well organized. Homework is minimal but challenging when it is assigned. Tests cover small details and can be tough, but going to labs and studying hard should get you a solid grade.

Professor Gardulski is my favorite teacher of this semester! Every funny story I would call my parents about is from her class. She is incredibly organized, and explains everything so clearly. Everything you need to succeed is in her lectures. I would recommend to take good notes, because some of her tests ask very specific questions.

She is so organized! She has the lecture outline written on the board and the class truly does begin and end when stated. Another thing I loved about her class was that homework and tests were handed back the very next class. She is an incredible teacher

There's a lot of material but if you show up to class everyday and study before exams you'll be fine. The exams are very fair and none of the assignments are made to trick you.

I used the textbook on the first night of class and to study briefly for the final. Beyond that, never used it because her lectures cover the material. She is a very good teacher, very energetic and dynamic. The labs are sometimes boring and long, but those are taught by instructors, not her. Nothing against them, it was because it was Fri PM Lab

Not only is Dr. Gardulski passionate and knowledgable about earth science, but she is an incredible teacher. I took the course to fulfill a science req and ended up loving the subject. She writes out all the notes on the board beforehand making it easy to follow her lecture and know whats important. If you want a great professor, take her course.

The only things covered in the exam are those presented in class. Textbook is unnecessary. No homework. Labs/fieldtrips are fun. Very very nice professor, really knows her stuff, very helpful and likeable. Would definitely recommend!

I love professor Gardulski and the way she teaches. She is straight forward and very organized. The material she covered was very interesting and she obviously loves what she teaches. The exams can be difficult and you really have to have an in-depth knowledge of the material in order to do well.

Prof Gardulski is amazing. Sweetest lady I know and took pictures of our 80-ish person class individually holding signs with our names so she could study and get to know us. Her lectures are SUPER organized and all notes are on the board before class. Also great at office hours for extra help. Do keep up with the class though or else exams are roug

I loved taking classes with her! I took two the first two years of school. Her class is very organized and flows easily. Lectures are pretty mandatory but she teaches the material so well that its not burdensome to attend class. She loves and cares about the students in her class and goes out of her way to learn the name of everyone in her classes.

Anne is an excellent prof. All notes are written on the board before class, and are clear and informative. If you attend class every day, and take consistent notes, you can do well in the class. Anne is helpful and available outside of class as needed. Labs for class are engaging, and ~7 of the labs are field trips. Overall, one of the best profs.
