Comment:
My comments about Dan are mixed. I had him for a couple of liberal arts classes and thought he was exceptional, but he did a mediocre job at teaching this class. I don't understand why his ability to teach liberal arts is phenomenally good and his skill at teaching this class is nowhere near as good. Maybe it's just hard to teach engineering.

I really like Dan personally. I felt I connected better with him than the other CS teachers. He's someone who really cares about you on a personal level. He does have difficulty gauging the level of difficulty of assignments and tests at times and he knows it. This is something he needs to work on, but he's open to student feedback.

As a student, I hear bad things about Dan, but honestly, the guy is really smart. He might not always communicate it well, but he knows what he is doing. I think he just misjudges the class's comprehension sometimes. I do feel like I connect with him on a better level than the other CS professors. Super nice guy too.

Although he doesn't have a degree in CS/Databases he is extremely helpful and a great resource. The lecture style of class is somewhat cloudy at best and at times it is hard to pay attention. He does however help anytime he can where ever he can and wants you to succeed. Overall I feel he's an excellent professor.

He is a very nice guy but I don't think he is that good at explaining things. Maybe it's just me because I've never done any computer science or programming before so it was very hard for me. Though, he is willing to help.

Fun class, and Dan is a great guy. The only down side is that he is teaching with helen hu's material, and sometimes there are times when his teaching doesn't line up with her homework assignments. Still, this is probably my favorite class at westminster so far.

I really like Dan as a teacher. However, I felt there was a gap between the homework we did and the difficulty of the tests. The homework should have been harder if the tests were going to be that difficult.

I've been in five or six of Dan's classes. I really like him--he's very nice and willing to help you to understand the subject. He might actually be too nice--I wish he's keep the problem students a little more in line. He cancels class fairly often, but it hasn't negatively impacted my learning.

I am really surprised at all the negative comments about Dan. He is my favorite teacher at Westminster. I took this class and it was the best class I've ever had. It was a lot of reading and material, but I like classes like that. Dan isn't just a CS teacher. He teachers Geology and this Spanish class. He is an amazing all around person.

I felt Dan's lectures in this class weren't working for me. However, I went to him after class and let him know I wasn't going to succeed unless we did something different. He agreed to work with me and give me extra help. I really like Dan for this reason. I have a great rapport with Dan. I really like him as a person and a teacher

Dan is a great guy. Sure he doesn't have his degree in CS, but he is still passionate about teaching it. He's not always clear, but is willing to help you if you ask. The class was very informative and useful.
