There is a lot of material to learn in a short amount of time. The online homework was difficult and the tests had questions only briefly mentioned in class. Be prepared to spend 12+ hours on difficult homework each week. Before the tests, go to both study sessions with the professor and the TAs. Work your butt off and you'll pass.

Physics 2 is difficult, so don't expect to understand material after each class. Pay attention to in class work, ask lots of questions, go to reviews, go to help hours. Online homework is very difficult (Mastering Physics), however pay attention to recitation sheets as that is what is on the tests. Would recommend utilizing TAs often and Youtube.

Very lecture heavy with confusing, disorganized notes. Never provides solutions for homework, in-class assignments, or exams to learn from mistakes. Assumes you are a physics master who picks up anything. Exams were difficult with 40-60% class averages. No crib sheets, relative forms of review, or any types help at all were provided. Avoid!

He's rough. His subjects are hard and he's a tough prof, but deep down he really does care about your education. He was one of my hardest prof's for 2 class, but I think he might have become my favorite prof. I learned more about physics in his classes than I did in 3-4 other classes combined. He'll make you work, but he'll also make you learn.

Comment:
Dr. Clark rarely completed example problems. His tests were overly long and difficult (nearly impossible to finish in time). HW on WebAssign was very hard. Recitation was the only way to get real help/practice. Workload for this course was equal to all my other courses combined, and he wasn't helpful at all. Very condescending. Avoid if possible.

One of the hardest classes I e taken at Wright state university. He is by far the worst teacher I have we taken, average test grade was around 50%. STAY AWAY FROM HIM if possible. Very very very very ad professor

Probably the worst professor I've ever had/will have. He spends most of his lectures going over proofs and why we use the equations we have. It's difficult to understand and it makes much more of a difference to be able to solve problems and THEN understand how they work. 2/3 of material is read from book and self taught. Take someone else.

Talked about how his class is the toughest in the nation & seems dead set on not passing as many people as possible. He assumes we already know about circuits and EE. His biggest failure was 58% of the class dropped and still the class average was a D on a 15 pt grading scale. I failed by 1% and he took off att pts, but I never missed. No curve.

Teaches the stuff you'll never be tested on and expects you to already be an expert in the field of physics. Would never take Jerry Clark for any class. I highly recommend you avoid him at all possible. Very rude, boring, and irritating.

Dr. Clark is by far the worst professor I've ever had at WSU. He also picks on people during class, which is just an added bonus to the terrible and useless lectures he gives. I would do anything to go back and take this class with a different professor.

(2/2)How to pass: You will learn very little material from lecture. I would suggest taking notes from YouTube relating to the chapters & just sit-in on class to pick up his hints. His exams are derived from the recitations but if possible obtain a previous exam from a friend. Derive EVERY math step on exam;if work not 100% correct, very few points.

(1/2)Evaluation: Dr. Clark is smart, he knows his stuff. But when it comes to actually teaching it, he is very ambiguous, theoretical, and inefficient (not to mention boring). He goes over about 1/3 the material needed for HW or recitation, the rest is in the book. He gives subtle hints on exam problems but refuses to prepare students for them.

He is clearly very intelligent, but he taught me that that in no way correlates with the ability to teach. He is boring, just goes through equations without any examples, and I could barely stay awake even though I love physics. He also uses the word "associated" a LOT. One day I counted him say it 117 times. His exams are very challenging.

The instructor doesn't give real life examples. It is nice to know how to do the math, but if he doesn't tell us how to apply it, then what's the point. He is also a bit of a jerk. He wants class participation, but if you answer wrong, he makes you feel like a total idiot.

Clark is can be a tough professor, but he is a good professor who knows what he's doing. Exams can be difficult, but he thoroughly goes over the materials in class (or in recitation) and actually works things out on the projector. Showing up to class and recitation is what really helped me. He's very helpful in his office hours as well.

He is one of those people who loves being ambiguous and not giving you any real answers if you ask him a question. He's not too bad of a teacher, the review sessions are the best, go to class and take notes. I'm glad I'm done with his class! Make sure you have the correct answers on your recitation sheets! some TA's don't know what they're doing.

He really does know his stuff, just don't expect him to clearly tell you it during lectures. Class can be a lot of work; going to his review sessions is where he really does an amazing job teaching. Lectures are hard, recitations are helpful though. Surprisingly learned a lot from this course. For a physics professor, he really isn't that bad.

BE SURE to read the material and chapters that he assigns! Most students don't bother reading the book but IT DOES help. To get a good grade go to class, read material before he lectures it, do every single recitation sheet over and over because the exams are almost exactly the same situation as the recitation problems!
