Comment:
most boring class ever. he gives out 4 exams, all of which are take home and essay based. they are difficult and very confusing. he doesn't care how long they are or how much work you put into them, you still won't get the grade u deserve. stay far, far away.

I love this guy! I took his his110 and it helped convince me to make history my major. He is so passionate about history which catches your attention in a unique way. You must take responsibility for your own interest and put the time and effort into doing the work, although he is more than willing to help!

I legit watched Netflix the entire semester and did fine. Do the reading and you should be good! He tries to be funny but didn't work. He wasn't strict He assigns a 20page paper and a bunch of other short essays but he's really nice about giving you more time to do them if you need it all you have to do is ask. It's an easy but confusing class

Lectures are straight from the textbook, that he wrote and makes you buy! There are 10 one-page essays throughout the semester and about 4-5 multiple choice tests. He doesn't care if you show up and can be rude sometimes.

I've taken Dr. Gerber for several classes and there's a reason for that. He is a genius in his field and cares about nothing more than the education of his students. He is always professional, light hearted and dedicated to providing the best education he can. You will be lucky to have taken him if you choose to do so.

Class was okay, he phrases things a little strange. Makes the information hard to understand but passionate about the topic. His tests are very difficult but he is very generous with curves.

A bit eccentric but otherwise very well put together. He has a strong head on his shoulders and really knows what he's talking about. Can really get into history and make you think about it in new ways. Awesome guy with an old-fashioned but adorable sense of humor

Wonderful, brilliant man who is more than willing to help and make you think. One of the best classes I have ever taken with one of the most interesting professors. Just make sure to come ready to think!

Sure, Gerber is a genius. He knows his stuff. He exemplifies this in the book he wrote that he makes you buy for his class.. which he reads straight from. He throws stuff on a powerpoint and expects you to know *everything* on the 4 tests he gives (your only grades). He is hard to understand - talks like he has marbles in his mouth.. BEWARE.

Not Helpful! He is a great guy, but the class is tedious, and his lectures are not engaging. He is semi-organized. The book required for his class is the book he wrote. I would not recommend this class to many.

Dr. Gerber is an absolute genius who forces his students to think. After reading some of the negative reviews I can only assume they were written by students incapable of thinking.

The book you buy is exactly how Gerber teaches, right down to the jokes he tries to say. It is highly unorganized & so are his presentations which makes it hard for students w/ disabilities. The 1 page papers were difficult as well because himself, and his two TA's graded them. If you did not write in their own words you failed.

Gerber is very lazy, his tests are worded in such a way that you never figure out what he is asking. YOu have to buy 2 books, one of which you never use, the other he reads from most of the time. If you hated history in high school you will hate this one more.

I have taken him for numerous classes & always recieved good grades. He's an extremely intelligent man & helpful teacher. He allows all students to re-write any paper they are not happy with. Using a roomate/friend for help on a test IS adcademic dishonesty & each of those individuals deserved to fail.

Comment:
This is a lecture hall course, it's very long, and very boring. He has four or five helpers, his papers are rediculously long and very hard. His exams are papers as well and they're long. Nothing you say will ever satisfy any of them, they act like you are in english class. His notes don't help you at all, it's mostly in the book.
