Comment:
Brain and Behavior with Dr. Miczek was one of the most interesting classes I've taken at Tufts. He is an incredibly smart professor, but his slides were disorganized at times. He helps you prepare for the tests with a review session that is worth attending.

Comment:
Klaus Miczek is a very interesting professor and his humor is very dry and can be his can be very polarizing. However, he truly wants his students to succeed and if you take good notes in class, review the powerpoint and prepare well for the review session you will most likely succeed in the class.

Comment:
Disorganized slides but very very interesting topics. A lot of memorization, but he tells us exactly what he expects so it's much easier to study for the tests. Has a dry humor that's really grew on me. Good personality underneath the cold outer layer.

Comment:
The material can be a bit dry, and he makes it funny. Lectures can be a bit all over the place - slides are unorganized and hard to follow but he makes sure you're beyond prepared for the exams. Love Dr. Miczek, everyone mildly interested in the brain should take this class.

Don't let him intimidate you! He told us we would fail the class if we hadn't taken PSY103 (Brain and Behavior) but if you are willing to put in the extra effort and know the basics, you'll be fine. It is hard, like he says, but you can manage. Not a lot of work except for the final. Basically, he made it stressful but it was worth it in the end.

Klaus is the best professor ever! I learned more in this class than I thought possible. He is hilarious, and such an expert in everything related to the field. He expects a lot from you, but it isn't unreasonable. Grading is very fair and he wants his students to do well.

I wouldn't take the class unless you're interested already, but Miczek is great. He makes sure students are prepared for the exams and has a great sense of humor. Only downside is his powerpoints are sometimes confusing, but it's manageable. You will learn a lot!

I really don't think he means to be that rude. It's his culture I guess. Americans are usually used to their professors being friendly them, but he's not exactly all friendly and cuddly.. He could be blunt which could come off as mean and rude. But he really knows his research, and you can learn a lot from him if you just stick with it..

I completely agree in total with the comment re: grant money. Only take this class if you are very much into biology/memorization, planning on becoming a doctor, or already have extensive knowledge of the field.

I think this guy can be misunderstood. prob bc of a different culture that he's used to, he's rather blunt and can say things that can be miscontrued as really mean/rude, but I don't think he genuinely means to be a jerk. he's just clueless to the fact that what he says can be taken in a negative way. Just do the article readings and you'll be fine

Comment:
Unbelievably confusing- he jumps from topic to topic every few seconds. The textbook is really important, but he won't tell you that until the day before the exam. He won't put his lectures on Blackboard, for whatever ridiculous reason. Review sessions are really helpful but he's really mean in office hours. REALLY unclear.

A bad, unclear, rambling teacher; a jerk to boot. I know Tufts is poor and needs grant money, but they surely could have found someone else who brings in some cash and gets publications - given their alleged emphasis on undergraduate education, his presence in the classroom is a travesty.

He thinks he is Judge Judy--minus the wit. He is a mean person, and that's how he is in and out of the classroom. He might be a good researcher, but he certainly is a shockingly horrible teacher who is also an amazingly horrid person.
