Objectively the sweetest man. 76% of the grade were exams, but all exams were open note and open internet. While lectures mainly focus on proofs and difficult problems, all homework and exam problems are online. Sliwa may seem intimidating, but if you reach out, he will personally tutor you, even in a class of 200 students.

for sure a nice guy, but imo he is wayyy too smart to be teaching. does not make much sense, but the homework and tests are pretty easy if you are studying on your own. not enjoyable at all, and i ended up just not going to lectures because i could not learn from him at all- he brought up a lot of confusing stuff that was irrelevant to the topic.

The lectures are mostly of Prof Sliwa reading the words on the slide and the slides did not help teach how to solve problems which was the only topic of exams and homework which was worth almost all of your grade. He is a very nice professor and helpful in office hours so if you take the class, you have to go to office hours.

Sliwa is a super nice guy who is accessible outside of class and very willing to help students. Unfortunately, he struggled a bit teaching the class remotely. Many of the lectures weren't worth attending, as the material could be easier learned through the textbook or other resources.

Prof Sliwa is one of the kindest people ever. He holds office hours literally every day that you can join and he'll walk you through any problem you could possibly have. Exams are hard, but if you take advantage of his resources, they are doable. His lectures are proof heavy but he gives good examples if the class wants them. An absolute legend.

Really nice and smart guy, but not a good teacher. His class was extremely boring. Lectures were overly conceptual and I felt didn't prepare me for exams (though problem sets are like exams, but answers to p. sets are all over the internet). Exams are hard, pre lecture videos are essentially the same as lectures. Wastes time deriving equations.

Sliwa is an objectively nice guy, but the virtual format of the class was pretty awful. Lectures were boring and simply consisted of Sliwa reading theorems and not giving good example problems. I took this class pass fail and I know most people did, it was the low of my freshman year...

When you are in that lecture hall with him, he takes you on a journey. Although the journey can be bumpy at times, he gets you where you need to go. He adds bits and pieces of his extensive knowledge, relevant or not, into his lectures, and that can be a good thing if you are a physics-junkie like me, or a bad thing if you just want to get it done.

Since I had prior experience in Physics, Sliwa's teaching style did not confuse me. However, for a newbie it might be difficult. Sliwa's answer keys for tests are absolutely atrocious, hard to read and some mistakes. It's likely that you don't have a choice but to take Phy11 with him, so just suck it up.

Professor Sliwa is clearly a very nice man and probably very good at the research he does. However, he does not know how to teach. He is unclear in class, and the homework and lectures have nothing to do with the actual tests. If you can avoid taking his class, do so, because if you have any hope of doing well you will need to teach yourself.

Prof. Sliwa is passionate about physics and loves to give demonstrations. His exams are fair and he offers makeups, which are a great option. He is painfully boring, but the text book is decent and he posts lots of material to enable you to teach yourself.

Sliwa loves physics and tries to explain the course on a conceptual level. However, he fails to teach the material of the homework or tests. Clarity is poor, but he wants everyone to do well and is a nice guy.

Easy class, comes to conclusions in an odd way, but explains it the next class. Reviews everything from the class before for most of class then crams in everything new in ten minutes. labs are easy.

Sliwa is a very enthusiastic teacher, sometimes a little too enthusiastic. He writes all over the board, talks fast and speeds through the material but if you need help he will do all that he can to help you. He even tutored me through Phy 12. He knows his stuff and he is very passionate about Physics.
