Whhhew. I know that transitioning to online is tough on everybody but Sanders REALLY struggled. This class was an absolute mess with hardly any organization whatsoever. He isn't great at conveying biology to students, even if it should be really simple. His powerpoints are poor quality and way too crowded. The saving grace was a lot of extra credit

This was a WEIRD experience with a professor because I struggled but like also didn't? Like the content is super easy, but Sanders doesn't present in a great way. Also, you'll realize that his slides are just the chapter readings that he assigns. I got over 100 in everything except exams which I literally failed (1 & 3) but still got an A.

His PPT presentations are garbage. Paragraphs of gibberish text on single slides isn't okay. Frustrating to learn from the slides. He doesn't respond to emails. He mumbles and trails off at the end of sentences. If someone asks him to speak up he yells "HOW ABOUT THIS? IS THIS OKAY?" then continues mumbling for the rest of class. Terrible professor

Difficult, confusing, and you can hardly hear him during lecture. Most of the time he's on the wrong slide and talking about something completely different. He's hard to follow, hard to hear. His slide organization is awful, the notes are all over the place. I would avoid at all cost.

If you can avoid it, do not take micro with him. Lectures are confusing and all over the place. The slides look like they have been thrown together last minute and are very little help when studying for exams. The only saving grace is SI which teach the material better than the instructor. Expectations are insanely unclear for students

He's hard to follow during his lectures, & his PowerPoints are boring and not engaging - it's hard not to daydream while taking notes. He isn't clear about his assignments, test expectations, & paper requirements. We only turned in a few assignments throughout the whole semester, along with the three exams and one major semester-long group project.

Took Sanders from Micro, Immuno and Pathology. His lectures we quite annoying and sometimes I didn't know what to focus on when it came time to study for the exams. When he spent a ton of time on 1/2 slides i made sure I knew those concepts. Don't be afraid to ask him questions. He definitely helps those who show an effort. A's in all classes

We didn't have a book and his notes were very vague and hard to understand so it was very hard to get through the class and try to learn the material. I would have liked a book to reference. He doe give a lot of extra credit and that's the only reason people pass with a decent grade. Horrible, avoid if you can.

Terrible teacher for a first year experience class. Let's talk about sex and HIV should be called the immunology and biology of HIV. Biology should be a prerequisite. Every single student in my whole class failed both of his tests and he still refused to curve anything.

He was a very nice person and he had good intentions but he was teaching a first year experience class and it was like we were in a 300s level course. Don't get fooled by the name of the class either, "Let's Talk About Sex and HIV", the first third of the class was reading a book about learning and it wasn't what I thought I was signing up for.

I chose to take all of the classes Dr. Sanders had because I loved his style of teaching. He is respectfull of all his students and in his higher classes, likes to ask questions to the students he knows by name. It kept me up to date on my reading. All of his exam questions come from what he says in lecture.

Worst professor i've ever had. This man doesn't relay coherent or useful messages during lecture. Good luck understanding his unorganized powerpoints with random symbols and words hanging off the page. Microbiology is my future, I learned more in INTRO at Mott-CC and by watching youtube videos. SI is misleading at best. Prepare to teach yourself.

This guys lectures are just worthless rambling. His exams are mostly multiple choice with 5-7 answer options, very difficult. He gives exc to people that come to class. Lab is easy buffer points, thank god or everyone would fail. Im glad to never take a class with this guy ever again

Best professor at UM Flint! Heys hard, but if you attend lectures it's all there. He gives you every chance to take the test, which is OK, but students do take advantage of this. He is a great guy that will stay late to help you if you don't understand. Gives you the chance to do research in his lab which is great!

Very unclear during class and very unorganized. You'll spend a ton of time just trying to figure out what you need to know. He's a nice guy, but it's unfortunate that students have to struggle like they do.

I've had him for cell biology along with microbiology, and I've found his teaching style is consistent. His lectures are confusing and he leaves the majority of people in his dust, as he talks over everyone's head. The material is not as organized as what I would like it to be. He is, however, a very understanding and nice person.

He is a very nice guy and he is only teaching the first part of our class, but the test was terrible. It was incompressible and designed to trick people. Normally he doesn't do multiple choice, but for some reason they decided to. I think Ann Sturtevent is easier.
