This man is by far the WORST educator I have encountered in 10 years of secondary education. He forces the students to write the tests for him, and encourage them to write unbelievably difficult questions based on random information hidden deep in chapters not covered in class. I've never been graded so unfairly in my life. Grading system is awful!

He gives tests where the students make the questions. It can be a pain because students could put anything that was covered whether it be hard or not, or specific or not. Things that are only covered in class might be on the test, so you should go to class. Keep up with the schedule on the syllabus and study the powerpoints, videos, and readings

Dr. Ortiz is very clear in what he expects of his students. His syllabus is easy to read and supplies a clear schedule. In addition he emails you reminds weekly about what to do. His grading system seems very weird, but he does his best to explain it to you, and makes it clear on how to walk away with a good grade. This hybrid is worth taking.

- he gives 5 tests & drops the lowest - 2 easy papers - attendance is counted (online & in class) -tests are online only and are tricky. i print out his slideshows & use those notes for the test & it doesn't help. his questions are wordy sometimes & its hard to find the answer. there are always questions about the online classes

Dr. Ortiz is not by any means easy. His 20 question exams online can have random questions that are not in your notes and mess up your grade. He gives 5 of those, drops the lowest grade. And 2 one page papers that you MUST make sure you critical think in. Make sure you watch his online lectures because each exam will have questions from it.

No other reviews since 2011? Wow. That says something! Dr. Ortiz is all talk. He talks about how he gives us chances to do well, but the tests have "random" questions and the two papers are graded subjectively. Maybe he got too comfortable and forgot his true purpose?

He's an amazing professor. I really thought measurement was going to be a boring course, but he made it very interesting, partly in fact because he didn't use a conventional textbook. It's not an easy class, but if you want to learn and you're a psych major this is definitely the class for you.

Brilliant! He is approachable and willing to help students. He knows his stuff! Despite his busy schedule, he takes the time to follow through with students. He often has to pick up the slack of the other professors.
