I LOVED Prof Jenness, one of the best professors I have taken at UCI so far. Her lectures are amazing and interesting to watch(despite the lengthiness of them). She gives great amounts of detail throughout her lecture, and provides readings for each topic she covers. Midterm and Final are a bit tricky especially the SAQ; take notes and go to O.H.

C7 was extremely simple throughout the year. There was a weekly summary, two short answer responses, and a quiz. Mid-term was easy and everyone had an A up until the final. It's almost 40% of your grade and everyone did terrible on it and didn't even show us what we got wrong. She told everyone it is what it is. Everyone's grade dropped 9% minimum

The best professor I have head yet. She truly cares about how you are doing in the class. While there are a lot of readings, they are all very interesting and not too thick. I truly believe she cares about her students and the class is not extremely difficult. Take notes on all the readings and you'll be fine.

Really long lectures and too much reading (be on top of them or else youll fall behind). You will need the textbook, but try to share it with a friend or rent. Reading quizzes can be done without reading, but there is a time limit. Exercise prompts are sometimes confusing. Discussion posts are a thing. Papers are graded harshly.

Although there was tons of reading, I think it was all worth it. She makes everything super applicable to everyday life and it's easy to get an A. There's always tons of office hours and she seems sweet. She chooses course material that's actually interesting so it's not all dull.

Professor Jenness is great at giving long lectures loaded with tons of info but you really have to take notes of the powerpoints and lectures. The weekly quizzes are based on weekly readings and that will take you about 2 hours to read a week. The assignments are simple and there are two short essays with an easy mid-term. Overall an easy class.

Her lectures online are really boring and long, and she gives a lot of reading. Weekly quizzes are easy, but if you don't keep up with reading and lectures, you won't do well.

Val is one of the nicest professors I've had! Her lectures are so interesting and you can tell she is really passionate about what she is teaching. Do all the participation work to get easy points! As long as you take lecture notes and do the reading the class is not too bad. Definitely have to work for the A but it's doable!

This professor is incredible, passionate and inspirational. Not only is she incredibly knowledgable but has a great sense of humor and is very approachable and humble. I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't like her unless it was because they were too lazy/overwhelmed to read. Her expectations are high and clear. Don't expect your hand to be held.

Prof. Jennes is knowledgeable on hate crimes, she authored a book. Her class is among the toughest I've taken at UCI however. The readings are difficult and tedious. She skims over important material during lecture. Tests/quizzes are specific to small details. She also sends tons of emails, which shows she cares, however it's overwhelming.

Many people dislike the amount of readings she gives, but she is a very inspirational professor who has accomplished many things. She offers incredible insight and analysis. Lectures are great & her TA's are very resourceful. She usually does 1 lecture per week so there are readings to make up for it. Definitely take her, she's very passionate.

Do yourself a favor and avoid her. her lectures are vague, the readings are extremely ridiculous. participation dont even account for 5% of your grade. quizes are 5% of your grade really avoid any class that has Jenness next to it. She sets you for failure since she doesn't provide a study guide.

Professor Jenness is knowledgeable and her lectures are interesting. She has a great sense of humor which makes heavy material like Hate Crimes easier to digest. You need to keep up with the readings in order to pass. She makes it easy by givings short weekly quizzes online. Definitely do your work but she makes expectations clear upfront. Love her

I did the readings for this class but still failed the midterm and am doing amateur on her quizzes. She asks for really specific things, and it just really brings down my grade. Even though I have been reading her stuff, her lecture slides are completely irrelevant and off topic. Most professors lectures are based on readings, not hers. Avoid her.

I LOVE JENNESS. As long as you do the reading and take notes in class, you should do well on the tests. There are weekly quizzes on the readings but they're really easy and she drops your lowest grades. The papers give you a lot of freedom and let you use your creativity. She's really nice and entertaining. Definitely take her if you can!!

Jenness is so passionate about Criminology and it shows. There is a lot of reading, but it's usually pretty interesting and always shows up on tests. Quizzes are fairly easy if you take good notes. She really wants everyone to do well but you have to work for it. She also will reach out if you're doing well in the class, which is reassuring.

Shes hands down one of the best experts in this field. You got to read a lot but materials are not too hard. You need to do well in exams in order to get a good grade. Not a lot to memorize but really need to understand. Lectures are mostly opinion based. Besides that, one midterm and final, three short papers and weekly quizzes on Canvas.

She is amazing, she is really engaging and makes a 3 hour class feel quick. She is really caring and updates the class on everything. I recommend actually taking the time in reading and memorizing all that you are given because the final and midterms are heavy on it. But overall amazing class!

Overall she was a great teacher, very engaging and interesting . Went to every class and takes attendance through I-clicker. Midterm was easy but the final was way more challenging. Her test are very specific towards the readings and she does not curve. She's an amazing teacher who cares about you.
