I took this as a summer class to fulfill an music/art credit. In 6 weeks, we had 6 quizzes, 24 discussion posts, 2 essays, a midterm exam, a final project, and a final exam. Also, we had to watch 6 musicals, which were NOT paid for ($25 in movies plus tuition and textbook). Spent more time on this class than my 300-level summer psych course.

The class mostly consisted of reading for homework but instead of discussion in class, it was very simple things like going over plot, characters, etc. Interested in the topic but not personable. Presentation is graded harshly but I found the tests were very easy. TAKE NOTES IN CLASS. Gave a final paper AND exam during exam week which was terrible.

She is a lovely person and this was a very interesting class! There is a lot of material to read but they are good reads. Class consists of three hour exams (not cumulative), one final paper, one class presentation and that's it! She does in class writing assignments which counts towards participation. Thinking of taking her again, she's great!

Dr. Blood was very accessible and eager to help. 203 is the intro to the English major, and Dr. Blood went out of her way to explain the workings of the English department to us, becoming an advisor and an instructor. In terms of work, you do a lot of reading. Tests are fine if you listen in class. You're encouraged to think creatively. Loved it

Dr. Blood is a really nice professor. Her tests can be a little challenging, but to get good grades you just need to read closely. To get A's on the writing, talk to her about it and follow her rubrics. Her reading choices are always very interesting. Come to class and participate.

Great alternative to THEA 100. Smaller class, discussion based, 5 projects, 2 papers, 2 exams make up the grade. Great professor, approachable and always helpful. Definitely recommend Melanie for any class.

Professor Blood is a great professor although I did not enjoy the class that much because it was primarily run by discussions. Luckily, that did not factor into our grade. The grading rubic is great because there are NOexams. Just three papers, four presentations, and class participation(attendance). Some of the movieswere interesting. I recommend.

Melanie is one of my favorite professors. She really knows the material and makes the class pretty enjoyable. Exams are pretty challenging but she gives lots of partial credit and some extra credit if you attempt every question. If you need help she's always willing to point you in the right direction. Not an easy A but a great prof.

Easier ways to fulfill the core, but people who are really into staged theater will like her. Participate in class and study and you should be able to manage an A or A-.

uses TAs to do the work for her, favors majors, mideterms and finals sometimes have ridiculous unimportant questions or small details. pop quizzes were annoying, books were not really discussed, class was boring, she is not helpful or caring. not recommmended at all

Basically uses TAs to control the class. Meet in large groups every other Friday and also meet in smaller groups to do papers which are due at the large group meetings. Acts like she knows everything and doesn't wanna give you the time of day unless you're a major. WAYYY too much work for 100 level class. Hate theatre more than before i took it

I LOVED this class and Melanie was fabulous. She really knows a lot about theatre and she brought a lot of variety to the classroom, mixed it up with discussions, videos, projects, presentations, etc. Its a great class, and if you are interested in theatre you will get a lot out of it. She's also very approachable and helpful.

Seems like a good person, with a stern disposition. I found her to favor the theatre majors, but then I suppose it's normal. It's such a clique. My experience in her classroom was not a good one.

nice professor if you're in sopa, otherwise she won't pay any attention to you at all. In video production, she tried to explain things to us but half of the time she couldn't figure them out herself. If you want to learn about editing, don't take this c
