I almost dropped the class the second she walked in the door. She was scatterbrained, unorganized and annoying. The papers we did write took forever to be graded and she kept pushing back deadlines because she wasn't getting the first drafts graded. We got to a fraction of what we were supposed to because she was so unorganized. F- .

Talks way too much during the class period and it doesn't even apply to the material. Also, grades papers based on HER opinion, and if it doesn't match hers, you'll get a bad grade on the paper. Her handwriting is also unreadable when she looks at your rough drafts so it's difficult to even fix. One of the worst professors I've ever had.

Anne grades your papers, which are suppose to be on your own opinion, based on whether or not it matches up with her opinion. She doesn't hear anyone out on their arguments and will tell you in every way possible how you are wrong and she is right. She also says, "Mmhm," after everything possible which gets super annoying.

Comment:
Anne is obviously a very intelligent person. However, her classes typically involved her speaking - at length - about topics that had nothing to do with the subject as she would often lose track and chase down tangents. HOWEVER, she cares. I suffered a personal loss during my final class and she went out of her way to help me on a personal level

Worst class I've ever taken. I thought she was quite rude sometimes. Way too much reading. So bad I ended up dropping the class. And essays, oh my god they're so difficult. I couldn't even understand what she meant.

I took American Lit from Anne Myles during the spring semester. This class is okay, and is passable if you attend class and are present in discussions. Discussions were often "far out" and sometimes hard to follow, as class often dragged on while she talked. The literature is well picked, but overwhelming. The final is comprehensive short answer.

Myles was all over the place! She assigned very heavy reading that I attempted at first, then quit doing because it was unreasonable and I was still maintaining a good grade without doing it. She likes to hear herself talk and disagrees with everyone's opinions but her own. Her paper page limits are long but you can fake your way through them.

I took Survey of American Literature spring 2015. Dr. Myles wanted to reconstruct her class so we were her "guinea pigs." Assigned way too much reading and only covered 1 or 2 pieces in class and doesn't assign papers until a week before they are due. Very scattered brained and doesn't know what structure she wants for the class.

I took Survey of American Lit from Anne Myles Spring of 2014. Her requirements for this class included: way more readings than anyone can finish, 2 separate midterms, 2 author research projects, a final paper due at the final, and a final exam. Also, good luck having your own opinion on texts in her class. I wish I hadn't taken this class from her.

Good professor. Very nice at grading. A little unorganized, but a very easy class. I would recommend her class.

Comment:
This professor is very self-absorbed. Does not take the views of students but rather has a hidden agenda with questions. Tests are extremely difficult. Content of the class is boring. You must read all of the readings if you take this class. I would advise finding a different professor to take this course from.

I was in her critical writing class. I was not a fan of Dr. Myles. It always seemed like if you didn't agree with what she had to say than you were automatically wrong. I absolutely love writing, but her papers she assigned were way hard. You'll have to write three papers. The first on poetry and the last two on different topics. The first one was

Took a class with her 1st semester, and then took another 2nd semester. Her classes are structured yet lax. She's very reasonable with the work load and with deadlines. She's a pleasure to work with, although sometimes she stumbles in lectures and is easily distracted. If you like reading and writing, you'll love her classes!

Myles' class was pretty easy, she can seem a little strict, but she's pretty helpful. You have reading assignments everyday, but you don't really have to read them because we discuss them in class.

Myles was an extremely good teacher! Lots of work, but if you keep up with the assignments it's not a problem at all. Lots of reading too - 2 books and quite a few poems. Very, very organized class. I improved so much in my writing class due to this class. I definitely suggest taking it with her, and I would take another with her again.

She is extremely picky. She expects every student to share her opinion, and if your opinion differs from hers than you are wrong. She reviews the rough drafts of your essays and tells you what you need to change so it will match her opinion. She is not understanding and she is rude to her students. I was very disappointed in this class.

Dr. Myles is a wonderful prof! She always listens to students' opinions and is genuinely interested in what students think. She grades reasonably and is remarkably knowledgable. I highly reccomend Survey of American Literature with her. She is probably the best English prof I have had.

I don't recommend Professor Myles. I asked for help and she basically told me it was too late. If your answer isn't wat she think you are wrong. Is not clear at all on what she wants. Has favorites in the class and will basically tell you if your stupid. Weird and confusing. I had to drop the class. Don't take her!

Honors Course. Okay teacher, sometimes didn't clearly get across what she was looking for in a paper. Sometimes felt that if my own opinion differed from hers it was wrong. Weekly papers (journals, short papers, extended paper/creative option) due and no final.
