Grading scheme is just super odd. He curves well, but there are two exams, each worth 41% of your grade in the class. The curve states that the top 10% of exam grades receive A's, then the next 20 or 30% receive B's. He stated clearly that if everyone got a grade deserving of an A, he would still not pass them with an A due to this curve.

Terrys exams are 60% lecture 30% book and 10% interviews. He definitely sticks to those percentages, so when youre studying just focus on lectures. The interviews were annoying to get though but the templates he provides makes it easy. His exams are exactly what he says they are. Also extra credit bumps u up so much, so do it!

Comment:
Terry's lectures aren't bad, a little dull, however the exam questions cover the most arbitrary, specific details from lectures rather than actual marketing concepts. This is especially horrible with Terry because that's the ONLY THING HE GRADES ON. If you have a choice, avoid at all costs-however, if you're like me, you don't have a choice anyway.

The most disorganized class I've ever taken, you could understand the material inside and out and the questions on the exams are going to be about stupid analogies he made in the lecture. Do not take this class with this professor.

Basically, don't bother going to the actual class, as it is not mandatory and he puts the lectures word for word online. Get loads of addy and binge the lecture videos in the week of the exam and write down all of his random facts that he likes to put on the exams. Look at the marketing interviews as they are easy points on the exam.

I went into this course completely terrified based off of the reviews that I had read. However, I finished with an A without much trouble at all. WATCH EVERY LECTURE VIDEO and take very specific notes on EVERY detail, then study them. I never really used the textbook and still got a B or higher on every exam. Also, watch the guest lectures online!

Went to a few lectures early in the semester, but Terry is the slowest lecturer in the country. So I decided to not waste the time and just watch the recorded lectures (Still incredibly slow, do yourself a favor & increase the speed to 1.75). Mindtap quizzes were super easy, but questions on exams are irrelevant super-specific nonsense. Don't take

Terry Paul will make you read a passage about advertising, then will ask you to recall the weight of the sun in approximate kilograms/square inch come exam time. Irrationally specific questions that are only matched by ridiculously vague and broad ones, this course is sure to make you feel like your hog is caught in a blender.

Terrible professor. You have one 2 hour lecture per week where he shows you maybe 10 slides of material from his basic black font, white background powerpoint. The exams are actually insanely difficult. Not because the concepts are difficult. But because he tests you over a ton of material and asks extremely specific questions.

One of the most stressful classes I've ever taken. Terry seems like a nice guy, but his lectures are so boring. His online lectures are okay. The exams are extremely extensive. The class average for the exams in my class was a 60%. RIP to your GPA.

Do everything possible not to take him. Hes a great guy but the class is disorganized and you could study for hours upon hours of content you dont care about and the test questions still seemingly come out of left field.

Since we all have to take his class here are tips: Do EVERY SINGLE PACKBACK ASSIGNMENT!! He grades based on quality and quantity, but the quality grade is found by multiplying your quantity in, so even if you have a high quality in responses, you will get a low score. (The average for our class was 17/27) Memorization heavy. Watch the interviews

Don't take this class. I studied my ass off and failed all three exams. I listened to or attended every lecture, read the textbook, did it all. His questions are extremely specific and focuses on irrelevant details that do not focus on the real lessons of marketing. There is a HUGE curve but you will stress until the day that curves appears.

Decent guy, means well enough I suppose. If you have the chance do not take his class. I thought maybe if I really worked hard on studying and restudying and restudying his material that I could do well on his exams (90% of grade). The truth is the exam questions are far too specific or misleading to have any chance of doing well based on merit.

I was a 4.0 student until this class ripped me a new one. I had heard that this class placed a huge emphasis on exams, but gave the professor the benefit of the doubt. There are 2 exams that your entire grade is comprised of. Questions on the exam are the most specific, unimportant things in lecture (2 hours of literal misery). Don't take this.

Lectures are abhorrently boring. The material itself is a breeze, but knowing this - Terry chooses to ask questions of zero importance to the topic. His tests consist of very specific questions about examples he uses and useless information. Don't think that you'll do well just because you understand the material, you have to play his game.

Yikes. Terry is a nice guy and is funny, but man is his class difficult, as a dean's list student every semester at OSU. Nothing is clear about the online assignments, and the exams are super hard. Only three of them too so you better do well! Watch his online lectures the week of the exam, and that's all I got. Good luck....

I'm an A student. Much of my time was wasted deciphering Terry Paul's vague syllabus. The class is confusing for absolutely no reason. Instead of just writing the specific due dates of assignments in the syllabus, he gives complicated criteria you are supposed to use to determine if you have an assignment or not that week. Clarity is lacking.

Nice guy, means well. Thats the only good thing I can say. He has no experience in the business world, with regards to marketing and sales, so he has a very difficult time applying concept to real world applications. Hes a textbook professor, not a businessman.
