Comment:
Mr. Nelson is not a good teacher. Highly unorganized, muddled, misinterprets questions. Gives you access to previous tests to help you study and then makes the new test completely different. The group projects are pointless busy work. Constantly putting in wrong numbers in calculator and confusing everybody. Be ready to teach yourself.

At first, I was going to drop this class because I hated the way he taught. But I stuck through the semester and found Dale to be a funny and decent teacher. Sometimes I got lost in his 20 min lectures, but you can understand what you need to from the book. Easy grader; as long as you attempt to understand and do the homework you will pass.

I usually take these "RateMyProfessors" with a grain of salt but this time its spot on; Dale isn't stimulating nor thought provoking, he comes in talks about what we are covering but doesn't have clear objectives for what you should learn from the lesson. Everything is on canvas; canvas was a better instructor. Honestly I hated going, its a bore.

Dale is a smart man, and he likes to show it to the class, by doing problems that aren't going to be on test . However, his expertise is not teaching. I've noticed throughout the semester he has improved his teaching methods. It does surprise me that someone who can get so confused about numbers and signs (- +) is able to write and grade tests.

Honestly, Dale is the worst math teacher I have ever had. He is a very slow grader and he doesn't really care to explain ANYTHING. If you ask questions, he says how you must have done it wrong. He is not a very helpful person either. He designs test to f**k with you and writes words wrong to help you get it wrong. LOOK FOR A DIFFERENT PROFESSOR!!

Dale was okay. He is smart and knows his material, he just does not teach it very well or clearly. There are a few projects that you can do with a group, which is helpful. He doesn't review for tests and moves too quickly through modules/lessons. Expect lots of online homework.

Not my kind of math, took the wrong class, but he wasn't terrible, worked with me. Great if you do the minimum, tests were a bit of a ruse, like when you order a burger and get a fish sandwich. The group part was interesting because you get to see how others approach a problem but also how the sycophants that don't get it get an A, for trying.

He's a bit of a fuddy-duddy and his habit of working out problems by writing 80 data points on the whiteboard was frustrating. BUT: if you spoke up loud (bad hearing), came to class, kept up, I found him really warm and engaging and genuinely concerned whether it was clicking for us. Kind and patient and generally indulgent of our confusion.

Test are tough because many of the question on the test do not have a question or do not make sense. Really struggled with understand with him. He just made me more confused that before I entered the class.

I hated math before taking this class. After one semester Mr. Nelson completely boosted my confidence, and sparked a new interest in math for me. His passion was infectious. Sit up front. PAY ATTENTION! Do the homework. Do the study guides. If I can get an A, anybody can. I highly recommend him, but be prepared to work.

He has no clue how to teach statistics. He was generally late everyday, wasn't clear, didn't teach from the test books and got off topic on random things. He wasn't good at going over homework problems. He wasn't good at preparing you for tests and tests were extremly hard.

This math class made sense. It did things that I can understand even though it was still math and a bit different. Dr. Nelson helped us see how math might be important in the future.

This was the last math class I needed to graduate. I haven’t liked math classes, but this made some sense and I passed. You choose a project instead of taking a final exam. Mr Nelson was reasonable and helped relate the lessons to everyday things. I recommend this class if you're not going to be an engineer or computer geek.

I took this class online. If you care about your GPA find another professor. His tests for this class were a joke; they're ridiculously hard in comparison to tests from previous semesters, and yet he weighs your final grade heavily in favor of test scores (65% of your grade!). The test questions don't resemble anything from the homework.
