Dr. Pennell is a very kind woman, and although her lectures can be slow, her classes are more than manageable. Not a tough grader. If you show up and do the work, you should be fine.

Wonderful professor. She was very understanding when I was having difficulties during the semester. It's definitely important to keep on top of the material as there is a lot of reading assigned but she is very understanding if she feels the whole class is having issues staying on track. Very interesting class; she leads a great group discussion.

Prof. Pennell is a sweet lady. She's always trying to crack jokes and relate to her students. She's big on participation and loves hearing from students. Lots of reading, but most of it isn't that bad. Two major tests and one paper. Sometimes worksheets to fill out, but those are pretty rare.

Professor Pennell is a very sweet woman who highly encourages class discussion. She is wonderful. I did not read any of the books but I did listen to what others had to say about them and I still did very well.

Prof. Pennell is literally the greatest teacher I have ever had in my life. If you DON'T like to read, then DON'T take her classes- heck, don't take any english classes- but if you are an avid reader, you will love her classes and her style of teaching. BEST PROFESSOR EVER!

Took Prof. Pennell for Amer Lit classes, She is the nicest professor I have met here. Always willing to help and explain anything you're curious about. Very intelligent yet humble. So helpful outside of the class as well as in. Not a hard grader at all. All she really wants is to see students engaged with material, and asking questions.

American Lit 1 class prof is very nice friendly and upbeat but reading material is hard to understand and boring shes a fair grader though and lets you do a rewrite on the first exam Tests are identifying quotes and an essay so alot of reading. Don't really HAVE to go to class most of it is discussion and opinion but u can ask questions if needed

A LOT of reading but most of it is good. She is a very understanding woman. Class can be pretty boring unless you get involved in discussion. Long paper at the end but pretty easy nonetheless. She lets you fix things on the first test and explains to you how to do better if you bother to see her.

Great teacher. She did assign a lot of reading but it was generally interesting. I had no interest at all before the class but enjoyed it nonetheless. When you need help ask for it, she was good about giving extensions, etc. if you need it.

She is a wonderful person, but has unrealistic goals for the class. The readings can be tough, but she gives great notes in class. Can't get by without studying alot. occasionally allows revisions. Take this only if you like historical readings.
