One of the worst classes and worst professors I have seen. Barely went to class as each class goes from start to finish each time about his radical leftist beliefs he would like to shove down your throat. He lets you know from the start nothing he discusses in class is "on the exams" which are just essays from the books you must read.

Never taking a course with this professor again, very strict with his classes, he likes things done a certain way... his way. and thats it. At the end of the semester I still cant tell you what sociology really is...

Prof. Chorbajian, Intro to Soc online: He's clearly a radical supporter for communistic principles and if your writing assignments don't reflect a degree of conformity to that agenda, then your grade reflects the difference of opinion. I did VERY well once I adopted a 'burn the flag' mentality in assignments. There's a lot of reading and blogging.

You really have to read every book you get for his class, or you won't pass his tests. The only grades you have in his class are two tests, the final, and the extra credit he offers (WHICH I HIGHLY RECOMMEND). Unless you seriously love sociology, you won't get a decent grade without doing the extra credit.

If you can read 4 books and learn solely from them then you will get an A. His extra credit does help a lot. I barely went to class, somehow got the study guides from other people, studied them, got a 52, 68 and 78 on the three exams and did the extra credit. Ended up with a B-.

His main concern is shoving his liberal far left wing beliefs down your throat. He expects you to conform and adopt his views. Thinks the US shouldn't have jails and prison is what is wrong with our society, what a joke! Makes you buy HIS book which he undoubtedly gets royalties on. He should not be allowed to teach, especially to vulnerable kids!

Do not take a class with this professor. He's very condescending and closed minded, hates the US government, along with the wealthy. I have learned absolutely nothing taking this course. His test are extremely challenging as well. They consist of three and you have to buy four books for this class. The books that he and his friends wrote basically

Not as bad as everyone told me he would be. Skim the books, listen to him in class, and do the extra credit and you'll get an easy A. If you need help, go to his office hours and he'll talk to you for hours until you understand. Also gives 15 points worth of extra credit on your final grade.

He is very intimidating, but he gives a lot of extra credit. Lots of reading, but if you read on time and do the extra credit then you won't have any problems with his class.

At the beginning I was not sure about his class, he has you reading a lot of books, but I didn't read one book all semester and I passed with an A. He gives you so many options for extra credit and if you take them then you can easily pass. He's funny at time, but his lectures are boring but you just need to listen to know what will be on the test.

Never read the books. Just did extra credit and passed with a B. Although you may think its impossible to pass it isn't. I would honestly stay in this class, although it is long and boring, if you put in the extra credit you can easily pass.

Levon's test are pretty tough but he gives you a lot of extra credit opportunities to boost your grades. His class is based on his theories and he's really hard to understand sometimes. At first I thought this class was going to be impossible to pass but if you read the assigned books, show up to class, and do the extra credit you will get an A.

Comment:
I took this class for Intro to Sociology. It is based mostly on Levon's opinions and you read his books and his friend's books. The tests are pretty difficult but he lets you write 3 extra credit papers and an essay on the day of the final which brings your grade up 2 letter grades. I definitely learned a lot and it is possible to get an A.

Levon may come off as terrifying at first, but once you get past the intimidation he is actually very funny and not a bad guy. He may give a lot of reading (mostly written by himself and friends), but as long as you do the reading and take notes in class you will be fine. Also, he is extremely generous with extra credit to make up for the tests.

This class is just reading biased books and then taking tests on them. Class is extremely boring and to be honest you really don't need to go to class because he doesn't take attendance and talks the whole time. If you read, do the study guides, and the extra credit you will pass. I'd suggest taking another professor though if you want to learn.

Comment:
It is astonishing that Umass Lowell lets this guy teach. Levon is absolutely insane. He's a hardcore conspiracy theorist and didn't teach me a thing about sociology. If you need to take this class and he's the only teacher available, just take it a different semester. The books he makes you buy really are written by himself and his friends, scam...
