Professor Skagestad was a wonderful professor and one of my favorites. Classes are pretty traditional: lecture, two exams (open notes), and a couple essays. He goes through and explains every topic and any questions you have quite thoroughly. He is very knowledgable in many areas, honest about what he can answer, and examines everything rationally.

Professor Skagestad is very excited when teaching philosophy. He does a great job of explaining the somewhat tough to understand reading that is assigned. He recaps all the assignments every class to reinforce the reading. Open note midterm and final. If you show up to class and take good notes, you should have no problem Acing the class.

Oh Skag... He's hot stuff. He has an enticing thick accent because he's from Norway, and keep note on how he gulps his water in between catching his breath. He gets really deep into thought as he stares out the window over-looking the water. He gives 1 paper, 1 quiz, and 2 exams. The midterm and the final. Both of which are open notes..

Comment:
Professor Skagestad has long and boring lectures and is hard to understand because of his accent but encourages class discussions and cares about ethics. The class consists of 4 grades: 1 quiz, 2 exams, 1 two-three page paper. All these are easy to pass but mess up one and your grade tanks.

Class was pretty boring, too much memorize-test-and-forget. Too much work and memorizing for tests for an introductory class. Nice guy, but if its not your major it's too much work.

Great Professor, Seriously. I've taken 30+ courses here at UML, this is one of the easy A's. Yes you do have to know the material. 1/2 the class did not show up 99% of the time and YES I'm sure they failed. I dropped Koran to take this class and glad I did.

Class lecture was so boring, but at least he doesn't make you show up every time, all he cares is that you do the h-m and read the chapters. I though the class was ok and I learned a few things

Read the book and know your material. Class is not that tough, just a lot to remember when it comes to the fallacies ect. Tests are the same as HW problems except you can't use the book.
