Comment:
I had Professor Fourshey for the "Imagining Africa" freshman foundation seminar at Bucknell. Heavy in reading and writing assignments compared to other seminars. Very invested in assisting her students outside of class to become better writers and students. Hard to be proactive because she changes due dates, assignments, and expectations often.

Dr. Fourshey is a very nice lady, always has a smile on her face. She unfortunately gives a ton of reading, and makes us buy books you won't read, especially RAMPOLLA. do not take if you have a large course load. she isn't as tough of a grader that you would think. DO the journals, idk how I got a B in the class.

Team intensive so there are group projects. Totally new information you never learned before so at first a little overwhelming but once you get used to names and places it is really interesting new information about history.

Dr. Fourshey is a very kind person but she is very disorganized. Her lectures are confusing and she isn't clear about what you need to know. Lots of group work, creativity is needed.. A very tough class if you don't put in the time.

Her style of teaching is the most confusing thing i have ever come across. She takes simply subjects and makes them so you can't learn a single thing.

She is a very disorganized professor, and is extremely unclear with instructions. Fairly easy grader, but is very all over the place which makes it difficult to truly follow her material in class.

Early Modern Africa was the perfect example of a love/hate relationship. The class was a challenge but what i got from the class i will forever cherish. It changed my life. She is hilarious if you get her humor, I would definitely recommend this class, but be in for a challenge.

Fourshey expects you to think, analyze, do the reading, and engage in dealing with Africa. Your brain will hurt but you will feel that you have actually learned something useful. Why don't we learn anything meaningful about Africa in high school?

I was not excited going into this class and now that the semester is over I am even less enthused about Fourshey and the African continent. Her lecturing is incomprehensible and her notes on the board make the material even more confusing. Just do yourself a favor and avoid the class, it is not worth your time or effort. Also buying 4 books sucks.

A neat lady. Her lecture style is maybe not her best point, but it's no reason to avoid a class with her. It's quite possible to get a good grade just doing a reasonable amount of reading and so forth.

When you take this class, know that it is a great deal of work!! It monopolizes my time, and since she assigns large sections of reading from several different texts, there were always multiple new ideas being thrown at me at once. She is very smart and nice, but don't expect it to be easy.

Very demanding class. The readings assigned are impossible to complete. Assigns way too much work, gives impossible paper assignments, and actually isn't that nice.
