Comment:
Homework was super similar to the test. Study the homework and you'll be fine. He's a really sweet old man. Pretty easy class if you take notes, although Yaqub had a tendency of messing up on problems. Also, i would recommend sitting close to the front because you know -- he's old and has a low voice.

1. Go to class and write down everything he writes down. It'll show up on midterms. 2. Even if you don't do well on the midterms stick with it until the final. You get a note card and the final is literally the 2 midterms combined into one test plus a couple more problems. I got a 68 on the first midterm but ended up with an A cuz of my notecard.

Really easy material. Section/lecture was not mandatory at all, besides the fact that some problems he does in lecture will appear on the test. (But he mainly does homework problems in lecture) Study all the homeworks, because these are your tests. Didn't study for the final, hardly studied for the midterms and I did fine

Extremely difficult to understand and doesn't follow the text book so difficult to teach yourself material. Tests are the only part of your grade.

Many complain about his accent, but you can still understand him. If you can do the homework, you can do the tests easily. Also, write down every single thing that you see him write. Some very random questions may be in the final exam. If you need help, I suggest you go to CLAS immediately. I would say this class is easier than AP Calculus AB.

Yaqub is a very helpful teacher if you actually go to lecture; it will save you. Almost everything that is tested comes from the homework or lecture. He has a very heavy accent and horrible handwriting but CLAS will help. Make sure to go to lecture because that is the difference between getting an A and a B.

Comment:
The Professor is almost completely incomprehensible due to a heavy accent exacerbated by speaking at an in audible volume. His writing could not be deciphered -all this making his lecture worthless, if my GPA wasn't on the line, it would be comical. As a previous A student in all other math classes, I struggled to pass- AVOID!

The worst professor I have had a UCSB. Extremely senile. Doesn't have a course page online. Speaks with a strong accent. Not engaging whatsoever and does not connect to students. Do not take this class. I go to CLAS and have a tutor in order to learn the material

Great prof, funny and smart, took 101A and B with him, the pace of the course is slow so material on midterms and final is never a mystery, he can be a tough grader and the class has no website so lecture is kind of mandatory to know what's going on in the class

He is very old but really good at what he does. He basically told us what was on the midterms and finals. Homework didn't count. I would take him again.

Awesome professor! Very dedicated to teaching. Midterms are just like homework and proofs from lecture. Makes himself available to help students. Has terrible handwriting but it could be worse. GREAT professor and I hope to have him again!

Professor was very difficult to understand as he often spoke very quietly and incomprehensibly except for a couple brief shouts. His writing is very hard to understand and his lectures are the exact same as the book. I recommend not going to the class as it is the same as 5A and you can get everything from the book.

Difficult professor. He's foreign so his accent is quite heavy and it is very, very difficult to understand what he is saying, also I'd recommend that you sit toward the from seeing as to how his writing is ridiculously small and he does not take pity on those who cannot see. He really does not mind if you fall asleep or not...

Greatest Professor I ever had, and that was 44 years ago! His greatest lesson: strive for excellence in all you do. It changed my life and inspired me to become a university math professor too! I now repeat some of the same funny lines he said to our class back in the 60's. Students: pay attention, appreciate him, and he can change your life too!

This professor is a very nice old man. Many of the questions on the midterm are from lecture. I think lecture was kinda boring since it was many things that you would know from high school. There are some vocab and proofs that are important for midterms and the final.

Awesome teacher, cute old man with tons of funny sayings..didn't pay attention much in class, went to discussion most times and crammed/read book before the tests..HW/test dates are assigned in class..Most test questions come from the non mandatory hw so just make sure you know how to do a few of the problems from each assignment and you're set
