Weird vibe, and the class was annoying, but it was easy overall. No book needed. If you like rock music, punk, reggae, rap, you would really like POPC3800. The quizzes and tests were extremely easy, and you can get an A with minimal, half-ass effort. He is understanding and accommodating during the pandemic if you're sick or a family member passes.

The worst part of this class was the 5-page research paper, but you could choose any band/artist to write about. Other than that, it was a piece of cake. Maybe 30 mins a week of work which was a discussion board post. No book needed. It was also nice that he sent out weekly emails with extra content related to what we were learning about. Easy A

Dr. Donahue is such a sweet individual and teacher! I took his music pop culture class and it was an easy A. I spent MAYBE 30 minutes a WEEK on his class. Weekly discussions that are almost word for word from his lecture notes. (This was taken online). His tests go right in order with each module. I would definitely recommend him and his class!

He was a great teacher. Even online you could feel he cared about his students. The only homework is a discussion board every week which is very easy. Exams are all multiple choice vocab with open notes. One paper you have to write but it's very easy. Take this as an enjoyable class and for an easy A!

Very Easy Class. All exams composed of multiple choice questions over the definitions from the chapters. Study those and you will do very well. Easy discussion post grader. Write a lot, with links, and you will do well. Four exams, two papers. Easy paper grader. Answers emails frequently. Do not need to read chapters in book to do well on exams.

Assigns a lot of extra reading related to music genre of study. Hint-you could easily skip this reading and still ace the exams. If you really want to learn more about the genre you are studying, read it. If you are strapped for time, it could be avoided without harm. Easy discussion post grader. Matt is a super cool person. Taking this course with him aided my decision to declare popular culture as my major. He loves what he teaches and is a very genuine person. I HIGHLY recommend popc2800, it should really be called 'history of rock and roll,' also he was in a band with the bassist of Weezer so that's cool too. Easy class, great prof!

Great teacher, lots of communication! The weekly discussion seemed like a lot but if you do the reading they are a breeze. Tests are open book, again if do the reading they are a breeze. One big paper, but it was about anything pop culture - easy paper! Great class! Easy A if you do the work!

He was the best! I took this course online and every week he emailed everyone talking about what was going on in the world that had a connection with what we were learning that week! BEST. PROF. EVER. So chill and interesting. A no pressure class, just sit and learn cool stuff about music, movies, tv, etc. His favorite teaching tool is youtube! And he shows lots of interesting videos and clips. Great listener/speaker and very in love with what he does. Matt rocks!
