Extremely inspirational person whos gone through so much in life and has an amazing background. Ethical theories are SO hard to teach and understand but he did a good job. I understood 75% of the material without the book and just the lectures. He sets a lot of time aside for questions and clarifications so use it, it will help you! Loved him!

I found this class to be difficult for an 100 level gen ed. Professor Ni is very knowledgeable about ethics and morality. There is 1 exam, pop quizzes, and a final paper so there isn't much room to boost your grade. Exam and paper are graded hard so you have to work for it if you want a decent grade. I wouldn't take if you struggle with this topic.

Great guy, tough instructor. Be ready for all the curveballs and change-ups. Do the reflection papers, study, and ask questions and you'll easily pass.

Expected to read a chapter out of the book each week, however after the first couple weeks I stopped doing this and was still able to do just fine in the class. Wrote a 1 page journal every week and had quizzes which were very difficult. However the exam wasn't bad he told you what to study. Final we wrote a paper and he graded fairly easily

Professor Ni brings a lot of knowledge to his classes. Taoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism all find a place in his analysis of Western philosophy, and it's organic, not forced. Sometimes it's hard to get him to understand your difficulty with a problem, in class or outside. I suggest emailing him with questions.

Professor Ni was nearly useless when I felt lost in his lecture. There was no guidance offered by him during office hours and he was a horrid teacher. All you do is write papers, but he is picky in content unnecessarily. If you have the option, avoid.

Inspiring man, extremely intelligent. Very sweet and genuinely cares about what he is teaching. A short "one-minute paper" is collected at the end of almost every class. Participate in class and listen closely; take good notes and visit office hours and you will pass.

Extremely passionate about philosophy, which helps you to learn to love it too. The book is an absolute must, read prior to class. Offers points every day, so it is easy to pass with all of the assignments. Exams are really easy, study guides are dead on to the material he gives on tests.

Fantastic Professor.Inspired deep thought, knew the material well enough to answer nearly any question posed either for himself or towards any past philosophers.Lots of writing, probably 3 papers every 2 weeks. Relatively easy papers if you put in thought, and tricky quizzes worth only 10 points though. Great class. Highly recommend.

I've had him for three classes and he has always been very helpful. Student-led discussions make the class more difficult but easier to really relate to the material.

I have taken a couple of classes with Prof. Ni. He is a very considerate, emotional person with gripping stories to share if you let him. One of the best professors and men I have ever met.
