A lot of work for a general ed class, 3 readings a week, long papers and 3 exams. No curve so tough to get above A-. Lectures rely way to much on class feedback, instead of explaining and telling the concepts she asks the class what they think a lot.

Bolzendahl is an amazing professor, but her teaching method, not really. I'll put it simple as this: get ready to read, because participation points matter on how you understand the reading. The exams are multiple choice but extremely tricky for she just words each option differently. I respect her, but her teaching method not so much.

Took her during Summer and it was fairly easy. She assigns homework and we had two tests. Allows half a sheet for formulas and was really helpful in explaining concepts during office hours. You can tell she cares about the education her students are given and I would definitely take her again.

If you miss TOO much class, you'll probably get lower than an A. The class felt easy and if I tried a little harder, I might have gotten an A. iClicker based lectures with about 20 pts to miss. She gave us an extra credit assignment. She's also very passionate and knowledgeable! I honestly loved her class. I highly recommend SOC161 with Bolzendahl!

AMAZING PROFESSOR, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER. She makes class interesting and she tries very hard to keep her students involved in lectures and making sure all of her references are up to date. Plus she's funny!

Loved her and her class! She made going to lecture very enjoyable! I was engaged the whole time. Attendance counts. No text book, just lots of articles to read. Discussion board each week. One midterm. One final. We got a cheat sheet for the final. I highly recommend taking her class!

1 midterm, a final, and weekly memo postsresponses on readings (these are easy, like a paragraph). Discussion was mandatory. Exams were fair (MCs, short answers). Keep up with readings and GO TO CLASS. You should be alright. She doesn't post her slides, but lectures are very interesting. Not a super easy A, but DEF doable. Loved this prof!!

Agree - she is straight forward. She assigns weekly homework on articles readings (via EEE). No textbook. Her powerpoint lectures are clear, but she doesn't post them online so attendance is crucial. I love her critical way of thinking about the topic. Lots of work but worth it.

Took this class Fall 2011. As a transfer, the readings seemed a little overwhelming at first but it was alright. No textbook, just articles that she posts online. Make sure to read because you go over it in lecture. I had a very helpful t.a. as well. Three tests altogether. Just study the notes and go over readings and you're good to go.

all you have to do is read the articles and go to class. if you take good notes then the midterm and final will not be hard! prof bolzendahl is really helpful too so, if you need to, you should really go to office hours. the class isnt hard but there is work involved.

While this is a difficult subject for most, she did well at clarifying the information. She has a lot of research experience, so she was able to pull from her own knowledge to provide useful examples. Missing just one class will cause you to fall way behind because so much is covered each time.

I became more confused by lectures, to the point where after 10B with her as well, I begin just teaching myself the material as needed. Homework is ok, but has a ridiculously hard grader who is inconsistent. The institution of a research paper for 10C wasn't horrid but her overzealous modification of our data backfired to make everything impossible

nice teacher but a bit confusing. weekly HW and quizzes, midterm and final. frustrating b/c HW is worth 20% of grade but she has a personal grader who is REALLY TOUGH, making HW grade really low. was really hard for me to get an A- in this class. had to get a tutor, study hard for final.

She's hot. Young professor. Need more experience. Lecture notes are posted online. Weekly small amt of problems for homework. Random pop quiz in class, simple points to grab if you show up. 2 tests. She sometimes get herself confused and confuse students. She tries her best. Very helpful during midterm/finals time. Give her a chance.

Professor gets confused when trying to explain concepts and will confuse the learning student(biggest issue with her).HW every week;tough grading.WKLY quizzes.Labs are mandatory.Since using powerpoint, class may go too fast esp.if math isn't your thing.Frowns upon emailing questions, would rather you see her during office hours.Overall avg professor.

This class is pretty easy for an upper division class. I think this was her first quarter teaching at UCI. Go to lectures and discussion! 20% is based on attendance. There were no text books, just articles that are posted online. If you go to class and skim through the readings, you should do fine.

Bolzendahl's class feels like a lower div course, until you have to read. Work load isn't bad but readings are a must since class and discussion have quizes. She's very knowledgeable and always smiling. She's also young and attractive. And she paces, so the best part of lecture is watching her walk away;)
