This is the type of college class that I enjoy. Lots of class discussion and she facilitated great controversial discussions. Attendance is a must, I missed 3 (the max. allowed) and got full credit. She offered an out of class assignment to substitute for two papers. I took the out of class assignment, it was a no brainer. Highly recommend!

Discussion and participation in class conversation is most of your grade. The "textbooks" (actually story books) are really interesting to read.

Larinda Nilsen is a very easy grader... unless she doesn't like what you have to say. She also teaches things that are flat out incorrect in her classes. Peddling pseudoscience is okay for a blog, but not in an undergraduate course. If you decide to take this class, consider taking it online so that you don't have to sit through her inane lectures.

She is so funny and is really good at cultivating discussions. The topic of gender stirred a lot of debate and it was refreshing that she was very neutral l, but encouraged people to share their opinions.

This teacher is difficult to connect with. The class was easy to get a good grade in, but very disorganized. Don't expect to be treated respectfully as a student, because she is curt, and uncaring. Will never take another course from her.

Larinda is a tough cookie to handle at first. She lacks on empathy and doesn't like to be called out on it. She an interesting person. Class was super easy, just show up and do the work and you'll get an easy A. She gave us 2 options to do this class. Online or in person. In person was a piece a cake! show up, have discussion, and you pass!

Rigid and inflexible. Others may think shes not, but hit on the right area and you will she that she is not open minded or a broad thinker that can use her own judgement. Just a by the book rigid person. Not inspiring and lacks depth.

Larinda is by far the best professor I have had here at UVU. Yes, she is lecture heavy, but she allows for such great discussions. I feel that the material she teaches is applicable and useful in life. I would take any class from her and be happy about it.

I chose to do it online. There are like 5 one-page current events due, 3 three-page book reports due and another 2-page paper here and there. Lots of homework but SUPER easy, this is an opinion based class and it's kind of hard not to get full credit on your own opinion. Also don't read the entirety of the 3 books, just write 3 pages of opinion.

After attending the first day of class, we were given the option to decide if we wanted to do it in person, or online; I chose online. The class was reading, book report paper and quiz heavy, but if you are looking for a class that is a interesting topic and the teacher doesn't make you read the entirety of the books, choose this class!

The option was given to either take this class in person or online. I selected the online option. Lots of papers are required, but it was easy overall. Everything was straightforward. Interesting topics. I do wish there was more discussion for those who chose the online option. Fun class overall. Great professor too.

Great Teacher. Highly recommended to all. The class is lecture heavy, but the lectures are not super boring. This is not an academic class where tests and quizzes make up much of the grade. Come to class and participate and do the few homeworks assignments and you will pass. Lots of Extra Credit available.

She is a nice, approachable lady, I like her. And the class is an easy A. That said, it is non-academic, and it can feel like a waste of time. You often sit around while she talks about nothing. 25 minutes while she asks 2 male students about their dating lives just cause she's interested while you all listennot helpful for our lives or careers.

I can't say enough good things about Larinda!! Her class is THE BEST class I have ever taken. Very interactive and very informative. Her in class option is a lot of discussion and group interaction but if you don't like that she also offers the option of doing everything online. But seriously, do the in class option!!!

I expected my Psychology of Gender class to be more than just a woman ranting how unnecessary feminism is. She's a nice lady but her tangents got really out of hand. Class is all discussion based which I actually enjoy, but sometimes I left angry and judged. If you want an easy A, take it. But if you want real quality discussion, don't.

I love Larinda! This has been my favorite class of my college experience. If you don't like discussions this class may not be for you, but discussions are always fun and engaging. Even if you don't like discussions, she offers a way to take the class and never come to class at all, but that option is way more work and definitely not as fun!

Love Larinda! She is a great professor. Doesn't require much from you and the work is not tough, but you have good class discussions. You read 3 novel books and they are pretty good. I wish the class had more "meat" to it but it's always a good time and I love going to her class.

Boring class, It is discussion based but she asks questions that you think would be rhetorical but she wants an answer. Assignments are different but really easy. It's an easy A but you don't learn a whole lot which is disappointing.

Larinda is a great teacher. I wasn't sure that I was going to like her at the beginning, but I absolutely loved her by the end. She is more than fair, very accommodating, and the class is fun too. Learned a lot that applied to life. And the class was very easy to get an A so long as you go to class.
