I've been in college for 3 years at National with a new Prof every month, and this P. Gurley is by far the best instructor I have had. I imagine that all negative reviews here are based on their personal struggles with how the course is structured. Prof Gurley challenges students by making them aware of their personal learning styles and paradigms.

Mr. Gurley is a great teacher. He will definitely call on you if you're a shy person who doesn't want to participate. He will hold you accountable for being late. His homework assignemnts, essays, quizzes, and tests are very clear. As long as you pay attention and do the reading prior to class, you're golden!

Easily one of the best teachers I've had. Uses powerpoint, but doesn't rely on it. He uses demos, class exercises that aren't uncomfortable like most teachers and if you do the work, his class is EASY. He's very helpful, a great teacher and I wish NU had more professors like him.

Best teacher so far. He presented material and made sure we understood the material through exercises, movies, papers, and group presentations. Gurley teaches you to be an effective human. Everyone should take this course with him. I hope to have Gurley as a professor again in the future.

I am an international student with english as my 2nd language. The guy was so demanding and made the easy class tough for me and my classmates. He insisted on doing assignments in APA format and if not then you get a D and F's. Probably the worst professor in my MBA class.

This was my first graduate class and Professor Gurley exceeded expectations. He is very demanding but is willing to put as much effort as necessary to help you achieve a good result in the class. Most importantly he challenges you to think at a high level.

Professor Gurley was my first professor in NU. I am one of the seven international students in the class with English as our second language. He took the time to explain words that we did not understand. He was wonderful and I learned a lot. The subject was not enticing for me but, after the course I changed my mind. He's just precious.

Comment:
Friendly, but be wary. Plays favorites with ESL students. Likes to exercise control over the students. Wants effective group but does not give group time to gel. Withholds group project assignment then expects paper and presentation done over a weekend (reason is to stop those with initiative to get a headstart. Poor communicator.
