Jill is a great photography mom but not as a professor. She holds very strong photojournalistic principles, and that's one of the other things I like about her. She was able to connect me to professionals in the field. She's willing to send you out there if she sees the potential in you. She's good in all these---but not much in teaching.

Expectations & rubrics are clear on how to succeed. Quiz are proctored and not easy but manageable if you pay attention to Photographers/overlap in material. Good mix of lecture/videos/power points. Select and start book for review EARLY! I am terrible with history/names but these photojournalists/activists are so moving and inspirational.

It's nice to have a teacher who actually knows the subject. She's a professional photographer and I looked up her stuff - so good. So it's obvious she knows what she's doing. Easy class, but I learned a ton!

DO NOT TAKE HER OVER SUMMER! so hectic. the entire session I was waking up early morning, doing homework, and sleeping. I have never been so stressed out. insane workload. so many names and so many videos to watch with too much info so you do not know what is important. everything was proctored. I WILL NEVER BE INTERESTED IN PHOTOGRAPHY EVER AGAIN!

Don't take her during summer! Her class said 10 hrs worth of work a week but that was a lie! I spent all day watching her videos and looking at the notes she posted to prepare for the test. It took up so much time because a lot of videos were 45 min to an hour. A PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS SHOULD NOT TAKE UP YOUR WHOLE WEEK! Also be ready to use proctorio.

Super interesting class! I took it online over the summer (we did not meet on Zoom, just worked online) and the professor was always quick to respond to any questions/comments I had. There are LOTS of videos and lectures to cover in the 5 weeks, but everything was very interesting to learn. Take good notes and you'll do fine!

I had Professor Conelly for her summer class during this Pandemic, honestly, she was really nice, answered all my questions, as long as you watch her videos and study you will seriously do fine. You don't need her textbook it was barely mentioned in quizzes. For sure would recommend her she really isn't that hard, just plan accordingly.

Professor Connelly knows her stuff. Don't be one of those students that takes criticism personally. It comes from a good place. She wants her students to succeed. I recommend her to anyone even a little interested in photography. She will help you improve!

I wouldn't recommend this teacher. This class is not fun, a lot of jargon, Professor does not make this class interesting at all. All lectures are in monotone. Prof is not helpful at all. If you have any issues she will brush you off and make it seem likes its you. Prof is very condescending with her feedback.

I took this class thinking that it would be a walk in the park. There was so much online lectures, videos, and I took so many notes. One good thing about this course was that you learn the value of Photojournalism ( if you're into that) in history for documentation. so much work. You go to a museum (no exceptions) & read a book to write a paper.

Easy A class! Just make sure to turn everything in on time. Include EVERYTHING she asks for on the rubric for the exhibit review and photographer report and you're good!! There are weekly quizzes but they're pretty easy if you go through lecture and take some notes. Take her class!

Took Photo27B during the 5-week winter session online! Great teacher, not too difficult if you study the material and go through the lecture videos! The quizzes and tests were from the lectures, and so you should memorize and know the individual photographers to get a good score! Follow instructions and turn everything in on time, too.

Take this class! I have never been more inspired to take on photography as an elective course. This class really helps you understand the creativity of artists and photojournalists. Jill is amazing! Online courses require participation but it isnt anything more than interacting with other students about your perspective. You can thank me later.

I took her online Photo 27B class during Spring semester. I really enjoyed this class and found it very informational and I wanted to do the work. Her syllabus is self explanatory and her lectures are simple. If you follow directions and do the work you will pass. I would recommend this professor and I plan to take another class with her.

Professor Connelly is great! Her online Photo 27B class is really easy. She provides videos of her lectures every week that give you all the information youll need for the quizzes. I was a little intimidated at first by the bigger assignments (book report and exhibit review), but I ended up getting a solid A with minimal work. Take her class!

Photo 20 is a great class to take if you want to improve your photography. Having taken most of the photojournalism classes at Pierce I can say that this class with Jill will shape you into a well rounded photographer. You'll be able to work on your portrait, breaking news, and sports photography. Ms. Connelly is a fantastic resource in the class!

Jill is an excellent professor. I came to Pierce to pursue photojournalism and I think it is because of her extensive experience and mentor-ship that I was able to succeed in her class and beyond. She gives tough critiques but I think that we need that for growth. If you go to class, take it seriously, and seek advice when needed you'll pass! :)

There is no text books, she has her slides uploaded and they are all about photographers only. There are too many and its hard to not mix them, even though I got a good grade on my finals, I forgot everything the next week. She is too strict, if you face a problem she just assumes that its your fault and wont really help you.

While Jill may seem a little scary, she is actually soooooooo nice and super helpful!! She knows what she's talking about, she cares about her students and their success, and she will help you with anything you need. All you have to do is ask. She is one of my favorite teachers at Pierce. She's really not that scary, she just doesn't smile a lot.
