Prof. Yalman is a great person. This is a challenging class for sure. He tried to make the lesson easy for everyone. However, he does hold high standards for everyone. Make sure to prepare your HW thoughtfully, and don't hesitate to ask any questions. He allows correction for pretty much everything, so there's no reason to fail beside doing nothing

Prof Yalman is very understanding and he wants the best for everyone. If he sees you making an effort and trying, he'll be willing to help you out when you're stuck. You MUST do the hws, labs and study guides, because the tests will almost always have questions directly from them. Even our final was practically identical to the study guide.

He is a very funny man. I love that his teaching style is very engaging and conversational instead of sitting down and doing worksheets. If you want an A on exams you must review the vocab and grammar and review all the listening excercises. Dont expect to get over a B if you are relying on memory of online HW and what was learned in class only.

Professor Yalman is an absolutely fantastic professor. He does forget how to say a few things from English to French and vice-versa, but in the time I was there I felt my desire to study the language grow immensely. He demands your participation, and if you don't then he will call on you. All quizzes were easy to foretell and the hw was manageable.

This Prof. Is clear with his lectures . For the entire semester only french is spoken in his class. 3 tests & a final, plus a lot of quizzes & a few writting materials. Good prof, & likes to make everyone participate in class.

Prof. Yalman is very helpful. You can go to his office hours to get extra help. His understanding of English grammar is also impeccable so he easily compares and contrasts the English grammatical conventions with the French conventions. He requires you to speak french in class, and overall wants everyone to have a thorough understanding of French.

Horrible teacher. He's a difficult grader and hesitates to help students. I struggled the whole semester in his class but I came to every class and did all the homework. Thought he would have some heart to pass me with a C but he didnt, even after pleading with him. He's a horrible person. Only take him if your a expert in French.

AN AMAZING TEACHER. Lets you correct your mistakes on your exam. Is sensible, funny, and holds students to high standards. YES He makes you speak French in class. YES He will be mad if you don't. He is passionate about the language and believes in his students! He is not impatient, but calls on ones struggling. THAT MEANS HE CARES.

He is the worst french professor I've ever had. He is super condescending and just plain mean. He is always judging you. And for no reason he will dislike you and make your experience hell. I expect an A in this class despite this because I've consistently done well, but I would put it past him to give me a B because he doesnt like me.

ppl who do badly in his class are ppl who think language doesn't require effort. He's pretty lenient on grades if it's obvious you are taking a peak at the textbook. is okay with late hw, txtbk is cheaper on barnes and noble site.

he is really weird. there is no writting in class and very little homework, however the test is all writting. chekc your test grade he often makes mistakes. go to his office hours and sit in the front you'll become his favorite. he's okay but you have to study and keep up with the lessons, doesn't require going to the language lab. semi-easy A

He is an angry little man who wants tobe Napolean. If u r not his favorite he'll belittle you, smirks (like he smells something foul), or gives you angry looks/comments. He only becomes sympathetic, a week before the teachers review. Wonder why...chk out his Brklyn school review. Horrible. Not kidding. Really enjoys feeling superior, in French.

He is so anal about everything, and he doesnt explain things. He does not clarify on the tests and is very prissy. There is no writing done during classes but when it comes to the test it is all writing and unfair grading. His teaching skills are lacking, and is very hard to understand when asking a question.

One of the worst professors I have ever had at HUnter Collegee. He has favorites and never smiles, just smirks and is not very helpful, just repeated more French that you wouldnt understand. Even though i got A's on 2 exams, he gave me a C in the class. dont take him.

Comment:
This professor seems to take pleasure from seeing students squirm when put under pressure. Not helpful at all. Teaching style based solely on textbook exercises, and will not tell you about impending projects lest you fail to check BB at least every other day. Has favorites. Exams are lengthy, and the instructions for the exams are very general.
