I am not a musician by any sort; however, I took the class out of my interest in rock and roll. There was a lot of reading in the textbook. His lectures are not that great for defining the music terminology. The three listening tests were tough; unless you took detailed notes of the textbook and audio lectures. Put in the work and you should be ok

I dont even know where to begin. Hes super lowkey and chill by letting you do your assignments whenever - no due dates. except he DOESNT TEACH YOU A THING AND GOOGLE DOESNT HELP NOR DOES THE TEXTBOOK. the terminology is impossible and i thought this was gonna be an easy class. no. i was wrong.

A great class, everything is given to you up front. 10 assignments, 2 test, a paper, and your final this is all you need to pass do all this and you will pass miss anything and you might fail. Will allow you to make up any missing assignments. All in all a great class and possible an easy grade if you apply yourself and do the work.

Works for you to pass the class. Pay attention during lectures and read the book and you'll do fine. Highlights the presentation as a large part of the class, but also lenient with that as long as you include everything and do your best. A bit abrasive at times but generally seems to want to get the material across to you.

Very responsive to any questions but you have to ask them; no feedback on the weekly assignments which makes the listening exams tough. The only due date is the last day of the semester. Do all the assignments, take the exams, and you'll get an A or B no problem. Interesting class!

No due dates on anything which is a blessing and a curse. The exams are brutal though. None of it is in the book so i don't know how he expects people to know the answers. Good guy though, he responds to emails in a decent amount of time

This was only offered online for the summer so I took it. The class was somewhat easy though sometimes questions on the exam were not in the book so I had to use Google. Prof. Scott seemed nice though I didn't really interact with him much. I wish I'd taken the class in person. He's very laid-back with due dates which is cool.

Took Rock and Roll Fall 2012 and Jazz Summer 2014. Online class is even easier than on campus. No due dates except for the 1st critique sheet; everything else can be turned in at the end of the semester, including all 3 exams. Got almost all assignments done within a few days, just waiting for the exams to be posted. Fun class for music lovers.

Online lectures were interesting. Coursework was very minimal at only a few hours per week. Assignments were graded as 100% if you turned it in with no feedback given. Listening tests were challenging as there was no feedback from assignments. Objective tests required looking up almost every question. Massive curve on the term's total grade.

Great class and teacher! Online lectures were informative and interesting. I used my book, unlike others who have posted, but my class was also online so I felt I needed to. The book was a good read, especially if you love Rock and Roll! Assignments were easy and tests were graded with a curve which helped because they were slightly challenging.

Extremely easy. Just show up and turn in the homework. Massive curve on everything. Starts with very informative lectures and movies. Second half is extremely rushed and uninformative. We watched Spinal Tap... really? Spinal Tap?

I took a rock and roll with this professor. The class is actually pretty tough. The tests are very challenging and you have to search for the answers in the book or internet. The plus is that, if you do the main work (tests, etc) you will pass, and probably have an A at that.

Very knowledgeable and has real world experience. Lectures are sometimes boring, but you'll learn a lot. Has funny stories on occation. Easy A if you do read the book and do the work. One of the best music teachers at Tri-c west camus.

Class was fairly easy in the beginning. Toward the end he rushes it and provides virtually no information that is on the test, which means you must basically read and remember everything in the book. On top of that, he doesn't work well with high school/PSEO students and isn't very accessible to them.

He is a great teacher! He really cares more about his students passing than if they do well on the tests. He doesnt believe in Ds or Fs so its virtually impossible to fail! I would recommend his class to anyone!

As long as you do all the work and turn it in, you'll get a fair grade. Best if you attend most classes in order to know what's going on, plus it will help you with the critique sheets.
